China Hit By Earthquake

An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale has hit China's Sichuan province. The tremor was felt across the entire region - shaking buildings in the capital, Beijing, as well as the Thai capital, Bangkok, and Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. US Geological Survey said the quake struck 57 miles north-west of the city of Chengdu at 2.29pm local time (6.28am GMT).

Some 10 million people live in Chengdu.

If these are simply ordinary Chinese who - through some quirk of the internet found FR and are sharing information about this horrible event- then welcome and thanks.

Oh, I openly admit I’m a complete enabler and co-dependent when it comes to Laz.

And I pay for it, too.

But a lot of us geezers have seen the forum overrun with Chicom (and other) foreign opinion shapers, in the past, so I have extreme (enabler - LOL) empathy.

We’ve had almost a year without considerable assault on FR (if you don’t count the Ron Paul rash), but that can change on a dime. Some of us have itchy trigger fingers... ingrained from past attacks.

At the moment, this is really not about the Chinese government. It's about human beings trapped under collapsed buildings, and rubble. Even if the new FR sign ups today are government agents by some weird but possible circumstance, it doesn't lessen my words or hopes to the people that are suffering and dying there right now.

I understand. The post was in hopes that we are making genuine connections here. Being insulated from much of the news we get, some of the new posters may not understand why some people are suspicious or hostile.
