I agree. But you can't align yourself with the worst of the group you're targeting.
The last thing LaRaza needs is encouragement and credibility. Meeting with LaRaza signals to them that the country is ready for a coup.
You are right that Republicans should reach out but McCain is just so pigheaded and wrongheaded.
He could have helped make Comprehensive Immigration Reform a reality but he dug his heels in and refused to compromise.
Look, He is reaching out to Parsely, Hagee, Al Raza, whoever. I assure you, 95% if not higher percentage of Americans have never ever heard of Al Raza.
We have had Black Panthers, and KKK, and Nazi Party and even Communist Party here. All these haters lose.
Al Raza, they obviously have not crossed certain line where McCain felt comfortable meeting them. He would obviously not meet one of BP, KKK, NP and CP. I am saying I TRUST HIS JUDGEMENT. He is not going to meet them if they qualifed as one of those kind of hate groups. Some hyper conservatives may have extrapolated their views and categorized them as pure evil, and they might be right. However, the fact McCain met them, tells me that they are NOT pariah like one of those other groups.

Exactly so.
For the same reason, Republicans have been stupid to beat their heads against the wall trying to go talk to groups like the NAACP, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Dem party. And the NAACP is considerably better than La Raza.
There are better ways to speak to people in those communities, than to talk to groups such as these.
