Item: The McCain campaign's handpicked RNC convention czar, Doug Goodyear, resigns after Newsweek reports that his firm, the DCI Group, was working to make the government of Myanmar look good.
Today I offered the convention my resignation so as not to become a distraction in this campaign. I continue to strongly support John McCain for president, and wish him the best of luck in this campaign.

This is nothing compared to having a Hamas supporter on your team like Hussein Obama.
Not one cent to these clowns! Ever!
At least he resigned. A “rat” would justify it and blame Bush for it
No, it's something to have a convention chairman who's CEO of a firm that lobbied for a brutal thugocracy currently in the process of forcing its people to die horrible deaths.
the firm was paid $348,000 in 2002 to represent Burma's military junta, which had been strongly condemned by the State Department for its human-rights record and remains in power today. Justice Department lobbying records show DCI pushed to "begin a dialogue of political reconciliation" with the regime. It also led a PR campaign to burnish the junta's image, drafting releases praising Burma's efforts to curb the drug trade and denouncing "falsehoods" by the Bush administration that the regime engaged in rape and other abuses. "It was our only foreign representation, it was for a short tenure, and it was six years ago," Goodyear told NEWSWEEK, adding the junta's record in the current cyclone crisis is "reprehensible."
Well, now it's reprehensible, of course; not then. Myanmar must have found some other DC lobbyists to spend its money on (once they sell all the emergency supplies on the black market they'll have plenty more).
And then there's this -- McCain's CFR chickens coming home to bite him on the arse:
Another issue: DCI has been a pioneer in running "independent" expenditure campaigns by socalled 527 groups, precisely the kind of operations that McCain, in his battle for campaign-finance reform, has denounced. In 2004, the DCI Group led a pro-Bush 527 called Progress for America, which was later fined (along with several other 527s on both sides of the political divide) for violating federal election laws. Goodyear, however, says that DCI is "not in the 527 business anymore."
CFR -- good to muzzle the little guy, but OK if you've got big bucks and can afford to pay a fine. Ask Soros.
“An Optics Problem For McCain”
Can’t see voting for him?
No one knows where Burma is anyway.
It may be different from having a Hamas supporter in your camp, but let’s not downplay the fact that being a supporter of the Burmese Junta (I refuse to use Myanmar) is pretty freaking low.
As one Freeper reported a Burmese expat told him: “We have elections in Burma. They just kill you if you vote wrong.”
They do now.
If he can make Burma look good the guy has talent. Sign him up!
“They do now.”
Ask 10 random people on the street to point it out on a globe and I bet you’ll go 0 for 10.
Plus I was referring to Myanmar anyway.
