There is a well documented history of higher incidences of certain kinds of cancers around neighborhoods, schools, etc, in close proximity to high tension wires.

Point to some of those studies.

There is some anecdotal evidence that people who are poorer and therefore get stuck living in less desirable neighborhoods near power lines also have a higher incident of certain types of cancers.

There was a very high incidence of leprosy found in people who lived in leper colonies. It is clear that the colonies caused leprosy. :-)
