As previously predicted by this poster, Ted Strickland of Ohio is likely to be the Democratic VP nominee.

If you believe it is likely, you should go over to Intrade and make yourself some money. Currently, people are paying about 3 bucks on the proposition that Strickland becomes the veep nominee. If he does, the contract closes at 100 bucks, for a handsome profit of over 30 to 1.

Right now, at least on Intrade, the favorites for v.p. are Hillary, followed by Jim Webb.

I think Governor M. Jodi Rell of Connecticut might be a fit. She’s still extremely popular after 4 year in office, and her husband Lou is a former U.S. Navy pilot like McCain. Connecticut’s 7 electoral votes are not critical, but the idea is to appeal to women nationwide.

Better look again. Jodi Rell is one of the most liberal governors of any party in the country. She's liberal on virtually all issues, both socially and economically.

Socially, she supports abortion, gun control and gay marriage.

Economically, she called for the largest tax increase in state history to pay for redistributive education funding, something that even the state's tax-and-spend Democrats believed was fiscally irresponsible and would have been disastrous for the state's last few businesses.

She just championed -- and rammed through the legislature -- the toughest law in the country capping CO2 emissions. This woman makes John McCain look like Tom Coburn.

Yes, I can state with 100% certainty that I will not vote for any ticket with Olympia Snowe on it. I don’t care how good she is at winning elections. Definitely don’t want any of that. Ever.

“go over to Intrade and make yourself some money”

Intrade is an offshore betting site ( Ireland I believe ). How do you transmit and receive money from them, now that Congress has prohibitted U.S. banks from doing so?

Jodi Rell opposes gay marriage ( signed civil union only after explicit rejection of gay marriage was put in the bill ).

But on the whole you are correct. Sarah Palin would be much more conservative on the issues.

If Ted Strickland is on the Democrat ticket, it could be enough to make Ohio lean to the Democrats.

Choosing Strickland does make sense for Obama from a political point of view.

I’ve already seen a poll showing Strickland doesn’t help. He’s too green. Those two would be the most woefully underexperienced and underqualified team in who knows when.

Is Libby Dole still available?

Isn't she further left then McCain? I could be wrong on that but that's the way I remember her.

Ted Strickland has a major headache right now with his Attorney General.

I don't see Governor Mulligan as a guy who will turn many votes.

He's popular because he's generally unoffensive, like vanilla ice cream.

I think it’s up to around 115 mysterious deaths associated with the clinton crime family.

I don’t think a freshman Governor will be on either ticket except maybe for Palin because of the gender factor.

Stickland’s only draw is that he won a single statewide election in Ohio in a demrat year.

As to the Hill, she is an awful choice for bama.

Barack Obama responds to a report about his wife
Barack Obama, wrapping up a news conference while campaigning in Bend, Ore., had a terse reply when asked about a terse report by columnist Robert Novak on the prospects of an Obama-Hillary Clinton ticket.

“Close-in supporters” of Obama’s presidential campaign, Novak wrote, “are convinced he never will offer the vice presidential nomination” to Clinton because of antipathy toward her by the frontrunner’s wife, Michelle Obama.

“My wife does not talk to Bob Novak on a regular basis,” Obama told the reporters gathered around him, who included The Times’ Robin Abcarian.

I believe this is comedian Moms Mabley.

I haven’t seen her on TV since possibly the 70’s or early 80’s.

BTW: we Ohioan Republicans do not think very much of Strickland, he's a 100% democRAT!

I am not going to argue with that, wonder why the "Arcancide" mysteries or scumbag Bill,s alleged rape never got any traction with the media. Lets hope this stuff will finally come when the final exorcism of The Beast.

Many Clinton supporters are going to vote for McCain as payback for shunning Hillary.

Can we say Avalanche?

I think we can. :)
