Under her thumb? He doesn’t mind that.
Michell (sp on purpose)wouldn’t want Hillary as VP, that would upstage her as “First” lady of the land. The last women to be upstaged by another on the ticket was Mrs. Mondale. Remember her? I don’t. I’ll buy a virtual beer to the first one to remember her name, let alone anything else, no googling allowed.
LOL, I feel kind smart, because I said the same thing here yesterday (although it wouldn’t take a genius to see this :) )
Was it Eleanor?
“can you think of any conservative Republican women with a national reputation who might take the job?”
I can’t think of any conservative Republican woman less than 70 years old, and with a “national reputation”, period.
Kay Bailey Hutchinson is probably a bit too old at 65, and also wouldn’t excite conservatives.
I think Governor M. Jodi Rell of Connecticut might be a fit. She’s still extremely popular after 4 year in office, and her husband Lou is a former U.S. Navy pilot like McCain.
Connecticut’s 7 electoral votes are not critical, but the idea is to appeal to women nationwide.
Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska is certainly worth considering. She’s conservative and very attractive, but somewhat inexperienced.
Then of course there is Condi Rice. She brings undoubted national experience, but her association with George Bush is a big minus ( Democrats are already campaigning against Bush’s “third term” ). Rice’s race would not in my opinion take any black votes away from Obama.
If McCain was willing to write off conservatives, he could pick Olympia Snowe, who certainly has a talent for winning elections.
Perhaps there’s someone else I’ve missed. 2008 is shaping up to be the ideal year for Republicans to engage in gender politics.
No, and I’ll be praying on my knees that it doesn’t happen, because I really that Michelle Obama, even more than her husband, has a deep grudge against whites and would have no qualms in using his position in the White House as an opportunity for payback.
I don’t know. Wasn’t that the daughter’s name, the one Bill played around with in the White House theater and other presidential playground venues?
“Is Libby Dole still available?”
Libby Dole is slightly older than John McCain.
It will take holding my nose just to pull the lever for McLame. If you think I’ll do so with Olympia Snowe on the ballot then you are nuts.
I’ll simply write in Ronald Reagan. Maybe next go around the VERY STUPID REPUBLICAN PARTY will think to take care of us conservatives instead of this liberal crap they throw up, DOLE? McCain?
gotta get dandan to give up the goods on strickland!
I cannot imagine the Nation in such a state of disarray as when she becomes First Lady.
The only thing she hasn't yelled out yet is, "White Devils!!!"
I know she wants to shout it, but unfortunately her handlers may not allow it.
I gave in to Google. It was Joan and you are right that Eleanor is the Bubba loving daughter. I made your point! Back to the topic of Michelle, what is it about recent spouses of Dem presidential candidates. They are eminently unlikable — Hillary, Teresa Heinz Kerry, Tipper Gore, Elizabeth Edwards, etc.
I googled it too. Joan, whoever she is.
I can’t agree with you about recent spouses. All you named, yech. But we can’t forget the only Democratic Goddess—Mrs. Kucinich. Photos please!
Must be a guy thing with Mrs. Kucinich that I don’t get. Have you ever heard her talk? I’ve got to question her sanity. I think Jeri Thompson is more attractive. On that note I’m off to run errands!
Why are the dimwits choosing our candidates?
This is funny if you think about it.
A small part of the reason Ted Strickland won was because of voting-booth racism, i.e., people that wouldn’t vote for the black Ken Blackwell who he was running against.
So a black candidate who is weak in Ohio against McCain, picks the VP who beat the black guy in 2006.
Granted, this is a VERY SMALL part of the reason Blackwell lost, but in Obama’s race-imbalanced candidacy it’s kinda funny.
Oh goody, another co-president who also wears the pants in the family.
Jeri Thompson, very cute, but a Republican so of course. I hadn’t heard Elizabeth Kucinich speak, so I You Tube-d her, and ok, even more of a Goddess. I didn’t know she was English, with a nice Dianalike accent. So what she says at least comes out nicely. But, alas, as you said, her sanity must be questioned—she fell in love with Dennis on first sight! Elf fetish?
