CRAWFORD, Texas -- The president's 1,600-acre ranch in Crawford, Texas, is all gussied up for this evening's wedding of Jenna Bush to long-time boyfriend Henry Hager. President Bush will walk his daughter down the aisle before about 200 friends and family members in a very private outdoor ceremony.
The festivities got under way last night with a rehearsal dinner hosted by the groom's parents in the tourist town of Salado, Texas, about 54 miles from Crawford. There'll be a barbecue lunch today back at the ranch. The father of the bride uses his weekend radio chat today to pay tribute to her and her mother, the first lady. Bush calls it "a joyous occasion" for the family and especially for Laura Bush. He notes that she'll spend Mother's Day weekend watching her daughter walk down the aisle.
The tiny town of Crawford is celebrating at a distance. A town statue has been decorated with a veil and bouquet. Souvenirs on sale include key chains and coffee mugs adorned with pictures of the bride and groom

Shoot, I am misty eyed myself, just thinking about it.
CRAWFORD Houston minister Kirbyjon Caldwell, a longtime religious adviser to President Bush, will officiate tonight when Jenna Bush marries Henry Hager at the president’s ranch.
The White House, which has maintained strict control over details of the ceremony and celebration, confirmed Saturday that Caldwell will administer the vows.
“He is a Bush family friend,” said Sally McDonough, spokeswoman for first lady Laura Bush.
Caldwell is the senior pastor of Windsor Village United Methodist Church and delivered the benediction at both of Bush’s inaugurals.

Jenna Bush picked You Are So Beautiful, the ballad made famous by Joe Cocker, for the father-daughter dance with President Bush at her wedding reception Saturday night in Texas, the band leader said.
Tyrone Smith of Nashville and his 10-piece party band, The Tyrone Smith Revue, were hired to play at the reception in Crawford.
The band was asked to do Lovin’ in My Baby’s Eyes by Taj Mahal for the newlyweds’ first dance. Smith spoke to The Associated Press on Tuesday about the music plans, on the condition that the reporter honor a request by the Bush family not to release the information before the wedding.

I think it is nice that she is not a publicity ham and wanted the wedding to be private.
Can you imagine how they would have been excoriated if they had held the wedding in the White House? Misuse of public funds, energy waste (Oh my!), food waste, etc. etc.
