Only fault I found with the article is it's failure to mention Turner Publishing and CNN publishing in Atlanta as the source (??) of many of those history books. (Of course, I don't have copies of the 10 books to verify that opinion...perhaps they go straight to the source nowadays)!

The hatred of the left for the US is so blinding that they continually support groups that, should they claim societal victory, will have them lined up against a wall and executed as the first order of business.
Simple questions should be asked when looking at any society:
Which countries have state sponsored religions? Of those countries, how many are islamic? Of those islamic countries, how many are governed by constitutional governments, as opposed to either monarchies or some sort of dictatorships? How many of those countries have free and fair justice systems - This is always a fun question. You will invariably get a good response from an America hater, but then you just confront them with “how many appeals to a death sentence do you get there, as opposed to here, and how long does it take to carry out the death sentence?”
The simple facts can be presented to them, but for the most part, they’ll still claim that the US is every bit as bad, or in many cases, worse than, the most brutal, ruthless dictatorships.
Finally, in closing, you can mention to them, “here in the US, you can say what you just did with no fear of reprisal. In one of those other countries, if you said that, and I was a government informant, you and your entire family would be imprisoned, tortured, and killed. Have a nice day.”
