VARIOUS fringe leftist groups from around the country gathered in Melbourne a few years ago to sort out their differences and amalgamate into one big fringe leftist group.

You can calculate the success of this exercise by noticing that no such large group was ever formed.

I went along to one of the fringe-ins to hear the Socialists Against Brunch argue with the Maoist Golfers League and Communists Sans Underpants over the mega-party's police policy.

Matters soon reached an impasse, as matters tend to do in a room full of dizzy leftist cranks. Representatives couldn't agree on whether the police should be banned from carrying guns or simply banned outright.

The practical difficulties of enforcing such a ban with police themselves banned seemed to elude the collected collectives.

So did any political concept that might have evolved after, say, 1968.

More than solving the world's inequities, more than bringing down the rich and powerful, the Left loves to brawl. Particularly with itself.

Lately the whole country has been thrilling to left-based infighting - from NSW, where unions are trying to push around the Labor Government, to WA, where Labor Premier Alan Carpenter believes allegations that he pushed up a Labor MP's top at a karaoke party are being pushed by Laborites keen to push him out ahead of the next election.

To be fair, the Left don't have anyone else to argue with besides themselves since state and federal conservative parties decided some time back to take a vow of uselessness.

Hey, at least in the US., the state and local Republican parties and conservative elements are taking the initiative. The National GOP is useless as a pile of warm dog manure, but the locals are getting feisty. Even I, who have never registered with a party since the 60’s, have decided to fight the lunatic Democrats by aiding the Republicans at the local level.

There is new blood in the conservative movement. Time to help get a transfusion for the ball-less national Republicans.

Conservative Aussies should form a Dingo Party and start biting the cowards and the leftists, right in the balls.
That will get their attention.
