Perhaps food bourne illness?

Does SARS work that fast?
To: mewzilla
I can’t tell but it looks like those are just regular masks instead on respirators so “droplet” precautions”?
To: CindyDawg
I don’t know enough to know what to think. Though I’m amazed at how well they’re keeping a lid on this. That part, the tight lid, actually scares me more than the reportage.

Yeah you would expect a “not sure what it is but it isn’t terrorism. It’s a relief to see how the rescuers are dressed though. That’s a good sign,... I think:’) When is national train day though? Amtrak has been sending me a lot of e-mails. I’ll have to go check but it’s this month sometime..
To: NorthOf45
I have to agree. The character of the response indicates:
A. Careful planning for such an event.
B. A set of parameters designed to “trigger” the response.
This is MUCH more than food poisoning.

I’m sorry, but I have to go for a while.
I’ll check back later this afternoon.

Its a relief to see how the rescuers are dressed though. Not in full moonsuits you mean? That's kinda what I was thinking.
Via Rail didn't have a single mention on its website last I looked. Note to Via Rail: Way to go, guys.

Agreed, food poisoning would have affected most everyone on the train, not just 2 cars.

It’s tomorrow. That could make people jittery. Hopefully this woman that died wasn’t infectious but people just got scared.
To: CindyDawg
True but you don’t airlift someone just because they say they are sick. Symptoms would have to be present I would think.

The response and coverage so far is most likely a result of the incident occurring in a very rural area.
Have you ever been in that part of Ontario? Nothing but trees and lakes. Medevac makes perfect sense, considering the location and the fact that there was a death.
The lack of instant and saturating news coverage is a similar result of the location. And that, IMO, is a good thing.

Baba, Jasper is on the BC border. I think Vancouver to Jasper is one day at most.

I think we are getting the “cover” story;the Brits have long had a thing about official secrets(there is no public’s right to know” and Canada’s governing still resembles Britain in many ways.

My bet is that they suspect anthrax. Initial symptoms resemble those of the flu, last for a few hours to a few days, and then recour with breathing problems, high fever, and shock....
