Those of us with sensible habits have been doing this for the last 25 years. Especially those of us who came out of university into the Nixon Wage Price Freeze and segued into the Carter Recession, and lived on grass and rain water until Reagan became President.
Of course, now we have the Feed Me Generation who think food grows in the cupboards.
I thought that's what the hippies did to get through the day.
How true! We maintain an extensive pantry and though we lost the contents of two freezers in the path of Katrina, there was never a lack of canned and dry packaged goods. Happily, our home received some damage but remained structurally sound.
