April 22, 2008 Wall Street Journal

I don't want to alarm anybody, but maybe it's time for Americans to start stockpiling food.

No, this is not a drill.

You've seen the TV footage of food riots in parts of the developing world. Yes, they're a long way away from the U.S. But most foodstuffs operate in a global market. When the cost of wheat soars in Asia, it will do the same here.

Reality: Food prices are already rising here much faster than the returns you are likely to get from keeping your money in a bank or money-market fund. And there are very good reasons to believe prices on the shelves are about to start rising a lot faster.

I don’t know, I just went back to read it now and it’s locked. Could be there was more than one which happens.

I’m off to bed, will try to catch up tomorrow after work.

I’m off to bed, too. Leaving for Laramie in the morning. Granddaughter, Hope Elisabeth, is graduating from the School of Nursing on Saturday. It’s supposed to snow. YUK! Springtime in the Rockies.

Talk to you later.

You are correct, always be prepared.

I have been very pleased with my orders from Walton Feed.com,
the food in the bags is far fresher than what we buy in Kingman.

Cheaper too.

Can anyone give me/us an idea of what Walton’s charges for shipping?

Walton’s did have a shipping price list.

For me, I found it cheaper to order the large bags of grains and push the weight up, so I went into a cheaper shipping price.

It does not take all that many 25# to 50# bags to take you to the cheaper rates.

And the rising gas prices will affect the rates.
