I believe your choice of the first person pronoun ("When you claim...") might serve to convey a false impression. Otherwise, you do appear to understand that I am not claiming the book is pornographic - quite the opposite, actually. I think your intent was to criticize others for not reading the book themselves before passing judgment. Again, I think that Fields of Fire is a terrific work of literature, and the characters that Webb created - Goodrich, Snake, Baby Cakes, and Hodges - have stayed with me for many years after I first read it.
