Not to take away from a horrible story, but I'm actually surprised the 10 year old was already having a period.... When I was a kids NO ONE was menstruating at that age.

Things are very different now, it is not at all uncommon for 9 and 10 year old girls to have periods. I think it is due to the hormones in so much of the meat. I just wonder what the long term results of such early maturity will be.

Things have changed for some reason. It happens but it’s still pretty rare for that age.

My mom started at 9, I started at 9. My daughter started 2 months after turning 10. Some families do menstruate earlier, some later. My family also goes through menapause about years earlier than most.
