Smooth gifted singers with a distinguished stage presence have been replaced by mumbling, mentally impaired half-wits.

I heard him a few months ago on XM radio. It was Whisperin’ Bill Anderson’s show and he still sounded strong and very sharp. It was an enjoyable show, he came on after Bill had spent an hour with Brenda Lee. My mom used to work at at TV station in Atlanta in the early to mid 50’s and she said little Brenda Lee, even when a kid ,cussed like a sailor!

Most Freepers probably don’t remember Arnold since he was before their time, but the guy had a wonderful mellow baritone voice.

Thanks for that. My dad was a Polish coal miner but he loved Eddy Arnold and Kitty Wells.

The Range radio station here in Dallas just played one of his songs half an hour ago. It was the first time I heard of him (I confess I am a newbie to Country and Alt-Country music). The smooothness of his voice is nearly unreal. It wasn’t until after the song was done when the DJ mentioned that he passed away this morning.
