I am spectacularly unclear as to what "the culture of death" actually means. I see the term tossed about a lot, but still don't feel as if I really get it.

It's the attitude of many "cerebral" types who think they know better who deserves to live and who is simply a "worthless eater" or "glob of cells." They then set out to find a way to exterminate those "lesser" persons.
