It's Obama, Warts and All
Wall Street Journal ^ | May 8, 2008 | Karl Rove

Posted on 05/08/2008 2:04:38 AM PDT by freerepublic_or_die

Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama each took a state Tuesday. But the result was a damaging loss for the woman who was once the overwhelming front-runner for the Democratic nomination. Here are some observations on the race:
- Mr. Obama is now the prohibitive favorite. Tuesday night, he took at least 94 delegates to Mrs. Clinton's 75 and leads the former First Lady by 176 delegates in the AP tabulation. He has 1,840 of the 2,025 delegates needed to win. Mr. Obama needs only 185 – or 38% – of the 486 outstanding delegates (217 to be elected in the six remaining contests, and 269 superdelegates yet to endorse a candidate). Mrs. Clinton needs 341, or 70% of those left to be awarded.

Mr. Obama understands this. On Tuesday night, he added a big dollop of general election themes and pre-emptive defenses against coming attacks to his stump speech. - Mrs. Clinton may battle until June and possibly until the convention in August. There's nothing Mr. Obama can or should do about it. After a long, bitter struggle, losing candidates often look for reasons to feel aggrieved. There is no reason to give her one. No pressure from Mr. Obama or party Chairman Howard Dean is better than pushing her out of the race.

- The Democrats' refusal to seat the Florida and Michigan delegations at their convention is an unresolved problem. If they insist on not seating these delegations, Democrats risk alienating voters in states with 44 of the 270 electoral votes needed to win the White House. And here Mr. Obama is at greater risk than Mrs. Clinton, especially in Florida. He trails John McCain badly in Sunshine State polls today, while Mrs. Clinton leads Mr. McCain there.

Yes, I see what you are saying. The MSM will downplay everything in his baggage as irrelevant or 'old news' and they will especially make sure that the radical, racist, seething, America-hating rants of Michelle O. will never reach the ears of the common voter.

He is the most dangerous viable candidate that has ever surfaced, and it is terrifying that he is even being considered for the most powerful position on the planet.

Even more dangerous if you consider that he may have been designed by committee to appeal to the majority of voters.

They found in him what they needed from a puppet and elevated him to star status.

In this age of the email, I don't think the drivebys can pull that off effectively.

I am very careful about which political jokes/alerts I send out and to whom. I receive far more anti-donkey mail than I send, however. Many of the senders don't ever bother to delete the TO: lines and it is obvious that the anti-donk information is going to and coming from hundreds of thousands. And that is just _my_ email.

I think a majority knows, cares and will vote accordingly. People in their late 50s and onward are not exactly drooling in their shoes, these days, at least, not based on their age, alone. And we were educated pre-PC. The internet has not and probably will not ever be purged of all facts. I no longer think that FNC is a minority outlet, either. They seem to be equally hard on everyone and when they are not, there are plenty of people who will call them on it publicly.

My cleaning ladies are typical older rural white women and they are quite politically savvy. The 80-something parents of our closest friends are still alert and one of them does poll work, checking absentee ballots. I have been *informed* of the terrible failings of Democrat candidates by folks I would have once thought to be unaware, since sometime around 2000.I really think the Internet has become an educative force to be reckoned with.

YIKES I was thinking exactly the same thing!

The scary part is I wonder who is pulling his strings?

The United States of America will soon become a Puppet State and we will become the subjects (not citizens) of a group of
wealthy marxist dictators.

Rove continues to do everything he can to keep Hillary in the race.

It was with whizdumb like this that he destroyed the California Republican Party by replacing the leadership and putting Gerry Parsky in control of the money.

He's worse than a RINO.

Agreed. Hillary isn't gone until the Obamanation makes it to the election still alive.

I've been expecting a Bobby Kennedy redux for months now.

C-3PO: Nobody cares if you upset a droid.

Solo: That's 'cause a droid doesn't rip people's arms out of their sockets when they lose. Wookies are known to do that.

(C-3PO turns to R-2 and says): I suggest a new strategy, R2: Let the wookie win.

Ditto for IL.
Rove put his buddy 'KJ'(Bob Kjellander) in charge here, who also just happens to be a crook, and all that's pushed for office now are RINO's.

Karl Rove helped RUIN the IL GOP. Until his slimy hands got involved here, IL was run by Republican for about 30 years straight. From the Gov office to the State Assembly. And now in this article he says IL is a Dem lock, well right, because of YOU Karl!

Karl Rove is a (blank)ing MORON. I utterly loathe him.

And he never got Bush Elected POTUS. In 2000 it was the NRA and in '04 it was the Swifties. THEY put and kept Dubya in office, not 'genius' Rove.

And if the IL GOP hadn't have been destroyed, we wouldn't know who Barack Obama is today.

I listened to Ray Talifero (KGO 810 AM - San Francisco) again last night and am terrified about this Obama love affair!!! The callers all but say that if he doesn't win the presidency, "there will be blood in the streets". One guy was just giddy saying "once he is in the White House, we will all get money for reparations!"

I just can't believe we will elect an elitist, racist like Obama! I still have hope that the American voters are not that STUPID!

It has been said many times, but what would happen if we had a Miss WHITE America, or The WHITE world poker tour?

Talifero's callers say we are playiing the race card - WHAT!!!??? Obama is a racist - his wife is a racist - Talifero and his callers are racists!!!

Rove has been at least as destructive as Dick Nixon, maybe more.

That is exactly correct.

Because of Rove's RINO toady's in the IL GOP Sen Peter Fitzgerald (R) was back-stabbed, betrayed and fought at every turn - he said the hell with it. Otherwise he would still be a US Senator and Obama would still be s back bench IL state senator no one ever heard of.

So in fact Karl Rove made Obama a political 'star'.

Well said, bev. I greatly fear that there is a crack opening up that has the ability to rip this country apart. b. Hussein o. was once supposedly against reparations but the last I heard he is NOW FOR reparations.

I am a talk show junkie of the first degree and I can almost always detect a black caller by their subtle voice inflections. For example, they usually end a word that ends in "ed" with an "et". The reason I mention this is because, ever since Hussein o. became their likely candidate, black callers into the conservative talk shows have gone from something like 20% to an estimated 60-70%. I wish the first viable black candidate for president would have been someone like Allan Keyes, who I sprinted to the voting booth to vote for in the 2000 primary, instead of this radical leftist socialist with the seething, angry racist wife.

I am not sure Hillary would be bad in all the same ways Obama would be bad. She would be bad yes, but I get the feeling she doesn’t hate the US quite as bad as Obama doess.

I sometimes think to myself “Sheesh even Hillary will wear an American flag pin”

Unfortunately, if she gets out soon, the possibility of the CRAT party severely damaging itself will drop to zero. I would like to see the CRAT party completely demolished and replaced with a reasonably decent party before the CRAT party destroys our republic.

With each and every election they put up a more dangerous candidate: Carter, Clinton, algore, Kerry. Hillary would have logically been the next in line and degree of danger posed to the existence of our freedoms. They have apparently chosen, however, to jump at least 2 or 3 elections ahead in severity of danger with the 'offering' of b. Hussein o.

I absolutely agree. As you probably know, obama is the left-most member of the Senate, to the left of Kennedy, Kerry, Schumer, Boxer, and even Hillary. He scares the life out of me.

If you get a chance to hear obama's bitter, angry, racist wife, give her a listen. She scares me even more than he does.

The more I learn about Obama and his buddies the more frightened I get.

I haven’t heard his wife go on but I have heard enough brief quotes to size her up just as you described. That “for the first time in my life I am proud of my country” made me sick.

Ungrateful witch.
