...Howe refused to sign a petition to launch a grand jury investigation against Planned Parenthood in his own county.

I have a feeling there is a lot more to this story than is shown here. For example, his refusal to sign a petition is not a direct reflection of his beliefs. If he is trying for a District Attorney position, he is wise to not sign a petition on a possible ongoing case. This would reflect a political bias that could both harm his chances to win but more importantly could hurt the case itself if the defense raises a conflict of interest challenge.

But heck... don't let me stop the knee jerk reactions...

Maybe Phill Kline has made it clear he’s not going to change his mind to run again.

Sam Brownback was NEVER a ProLifer. Period. Ever. 90% of those whom the sold out corrupt power hungry selfish political whores known as “Right to Life” endorse are not pro life either and the “bar” for what it takes to get their mantel is so low that politicians to the LEFT of John McCain are considered 100% Pro-Life.

Sam Brownback was and IS a Panderer. A phony. A counterfeit.

We knew it in Iowa, which is why he got NOWHERE in the Caucus... and dropped out and endorsed McCain.

Bah... it is about time his stain was wiped out.

It is so called Christian Pro Life Conservatives like Brownback who have hurt those three names above the most.

He is further from them than Obama... because at least Obama is not LYING about it.

This doesn’t even bear any resemblance to what Santorum did for the President in supporting Specter. Not even a slight one.

Santorum’s a good man. Brownback’s slime.

First off, for the record I am pro-life. Always was, and always will be.

That said, a District Attorney's job is to enforce the law in a proper fashion. Is Kline doing that? Is Howe a legit DA, or a weasel like his old boss Paul Morrison? I don't know anything about Howe.

Why? Kline is the only DA in the country with a pending criminal case against a Planned Parenthood and is likely the only DA in the country with the intestinal fortitude to stick with such an investigation.

Kline has filed 107 charges against Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri, which operates an abortion mill in his county, for illegal late-term and minor abortions and fraudulent documentation.

Is this a case of a fishing expedition? Is this a case of using the DA of politics? Or is this a valid case of Planned Barrenhood breaking the law, and not just being bad people. I really hope it is a valid case. If Kline did not dot his i's and cross his t's here, this is going to backfire on the entire pro-life movement in a big way. Prosecutions are much different than legislative attacks.

There is no explanation for pro-aborts to support Howe other than they expect him to drop Kline's investigation.

My support for a DA hedges on whether that DA does a good competent job or not. If there's a legitimate case of PP breaking the law that can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt, then go for it. If it is a fishing expedition or a Mike Nifong case of politics, than I can not support this even if it against an organization I despise. I'm not convinced one way or the other on which case it is.

Now to my complaint with the article. As for Brownback, I didn't vote for him in the primary, but something like this doesn't make me consider him a traitor to pro-life views. A DA's job is to follow the law and enforce it. Period. It should be the least political position in county government. If PP IS breaking the law, then enforce it. If they are just being jerks, that still isn't a crime thanks to Blackmun and company.
