There were also people voting for Obama that will vote for McCain in the fall. Probably about the same percentage so they kind of canceled each other out.

The beauty is that it doesn't matter. Obama will accuse Clinton of in effect cheating. True Clinton supporters will be angered and alienated by the notion. There will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth. This is Rush's true goal, i.e. providing the biggest bunch of conspiracy theorists on the planet with raw meat and something to hang "stolen election" on.

Popcorn anyone?

Nice assessment. And yes, I am a proud card-carrying member of Operation Chaos, Indiana chapter.

It’s a good thing that Rush has a golden touch, because Operation Chaos is going to blowup in his face.

Exactly. It's a crying shame that the brilliance of this strategy is lost on so many people. McCain is going to have to go up against one of them in the general election. That is a given. The two are almost interchangeable in terms of policies, so airing their laundry now creates long term doubt in the minds of the electors. Either of the Dims will be far easier for McCain to beat once they are bloodied and bruised by each other in the primaries.

What Conservatives really need to focus on is Congress. We need to elect congresscritters that will counteract the obvious flaws in the coming McCain Presidency......

I agree with your assessment of Limbaugh’s goal, as far as you go.

IMO, the genesis of “Operation Chaos” was rooted in the democrats crossing over in the open primaries to influence who the Republican candidate would be. In the early open primaries, he railed about the cross-over effect. To have the democrats bemoan cross-over voters is just too sweet.

It moved on to a full-blown media event when he caught lightning in a bottle. I think Limbaugh is clever, but much of the later “Operation Chaos” was serendipitous. He got lucky and now his objective is to stay in front of the movement.
