The Swiss Federal Ethics Committee on Non-Human Biotechnology says that humans cannot claim "absolute ownership" over plants; that "individual plants have an inherent worth..."

Oh, great! First robots and zombies--now plants! I suppose we'll have to accept their constitutions, treaties, peace accords, and what have you. Before you know it, politicians will be pandering to so-called Cucurbitan-Americans and the like; perennials will have their own annual holidays; and the term 'pansy' will become doubly offensive.

Maybe that old tale about carrots screaming when plucked from the ground is true after all. I wonder what sound a pumpkin makes--

Someone once told me never to make a contract with a
sociopath. Clearly animals and plants have something
in common with sociopaths.
