The Democrat who won the special election in Louisiana's 6th district is a pro-life, pro-2A Democrat with statewide recognition.

He ran against a Republican who is known mostly for losing big statewide elections five times and who was forced into a punishing runoff for the GOP nomination.

The circumstances of this election cannot be used to support Gingrich's thesis.

If McCain is our only hope our hopes were flushed long ago. An Obama victory, with his liberalism and inexperience, would pretty much guarantee a Republican takeover of at least one house in Congress in 2010. We would have to endure two years of pain, but we would have a rallying cry.

If you are serious, you should look into going over to Democratic Underground. (and quit calling your self a Republican) Evidently you don’t know BS when you hear it.

Hey, Newt, we voted for real change back in 1994. And you let us down. How about a Republican Party that talks conservative and votes conservative?

Overhaul the census and cut its budget radically.

Does he mean by actually stripping it down to its Constitutional function, or is this just a gimmick "wave the magic wand and make waste-fraud-and-abuse vanish" promise?

I liked Newt before he decided to become Al Gore’s Mini Me. Now I just can’t decide when to believe him anymore. Anyway all I care about in this election is keeping Hillary and Obama out of the White House. As soon as the election is over I think conservatives ought to get serious about creating a viable Conservative Party.

Newt, if the pubbies would just stop trying to compromise and “work with” our enemies and operate CONSERVATIVES, the party would be back on the winning track. But if you run RINOS you will not get conservative backing and RATS vote for the true RAT anyway.

Conservatism works every time it is tried.

The Democrat who won the special election in Louisiana's 6th district is a pro-life, pro-2A Democrat with statewide recognition showed that his soon-to-be-constituents are a bunch of idiots who fell for a lie that will further enable an ultra-leftist Congress to destroy us.

I know it is long and winded, but a vote for a Democrat anywhere just serves to empower the ultra-leftists who actually dictate policy now. How are all those "pro-life, pro-2A, and pro-troop" "blue dog" Democrats working out? Not very well!

Same here. I have zero respect for him, regardless of his responses to his affair with Global BS.

Shut up, Newt! You lost all credibility with us when you sucked up to John Kerry and then participated in that stupid Gloabl Warming TV ad with Pelosi.

You're finished. Accept it, and go away!

Congratulations for a totally worthless post. Did you even read the article? You are just one of the worthless bunch that post the same thing every time Newt’s name is mentioned.

I bet myself a post like yours would show up in the first 10 replies. Thanks...now I get to buy myself a beer.

Show me one point Newt makes you disagree with?

As soon as the election is over I think conservatives ought to get serious about creating a viable Conservative Party.

With 20+ million new, uneducated, government dependent, Democrat voters signed up by John McCain, their will be only one viable party left, the Democrats.

Ah, So Newt;

How did having a Republican House, Senate and President work out for us rank and file Republicans the last time?

Thought so.

You guys want to run as Demo-light go ahead. Just don't look behind to see if I'm following.

I’m no longer a Republican and I’m looking for a Conservative party.

Same here.

The last year of Dubya and the impending nomination of McLame have convinced me that it doesn't matter who is in the White House - the Rats or the GOP. They will each do damage in their own way.

The best we can hope for is that the Rats and the GOP alternate control of the White House every four years. That might minimize the damage they each can make.

Of course, the real best we can hope for is that a new, conservative party springs up to kick them both in the a**. But that's just dreaming.

The union is safer when Congress and the Presidency are controlled by different parties. Without the squabbles, we get too much government, a $3 trillion budget and the same old graft. Newt was a great back-bencher. After his success, Republicans became satisfied to behave like big-spending gentle democrats. Why settle for a substitute when the real deal is available?

Hey Newt, that GW bandwagon you jumped onto is getting worn, you'd better look at jumping onto the socialized-medicine bandwagon.

Newt was great with his “Contract with America”. Yet he bailed out with his tail between his legs over his love life. Now he is a monday morning quarterback. He is typical of the whimps we have in the so-called leadership of the GOP.
