He will get that neat ambassador post to Togo He's shooting for ambassador to Arkansas. A strange and exotic land yet to be penetrated by civilization.

plus, the Paul supporters always gripe when we give him pressI enjoy a good Paul thread, but these have really run their course as far as the activity they get these days. I mean, does anyone really care about who gets what GOP delegates? We're talking eventual footnotes on history. I personally have moved on to taunting the anti-Paul n00bginas on Bob Barr threads.

A McCain clone adds nothing to a McCain ticket. I have a sneaking suspicion that a good bsinessman like Mitt Romney didn't walk away empty handed when he bailed so soon after Super Tuesday.
No, I don't think McCain will pick Mitt, he towers over McCain both intellectually and physically. But I do think Mitt extracted a price and the price was don't pick Huckabee.
The only advantage that Huckabee brings to McCain is that he is a relative dwarft, both physically and intellectually. That simply isn't likely to be good enough for McCain.
McCain needs somebody who can at least put a swing state or two into play-- such as Governor Pawlenty of Minnesota or one of the weak sisters from Maine.

I’d rather it be Romney. McCain/Huck would be the worst of both worlds in many ways.

Actually, if I may make a suggestion, you should use square bracket title commenting to refer to Paul right in the name of the thread. You’ll get more activity.

He got his name on the ballot way back before PA’s deadline, when he was awash in lib cash.

What citizens? Like it or now, we all have our choice candidates (mine dropped out early) but a majority of citizens chose McCain. What do you think would happen if, for example, a candidate’s (who only got 1%-2% of the vote, let’s take Fred for example) supporters decided to do this? Do you think the 98% that voted against that candidate would give that 1%-2% (in reality far less as I’m sure not everyone who voted for a candidate would support that action) the time of day? Fun to think about ‘in theory’ but in reality, not gonna happen. At this point, the two best options we have are either, McCain chooses a very conservative running mate or something happens, like a scandal, and a new candidate is chosen by the delegates at the convention.

Well, MAYBE...they’re are still quite a few Perot voters up here, and still some Ron Paul signs. Any NC freepers who can tell us if Paul’s name is still on their ballot?

I'd MUCH rather have Romney than Huckabee. At least we know Romney can figure out how to balance a checkbook, and tha the's more conservative than McCain....I've been worried for weeks that McCain's going to choose Huckabee though because A: his treatment of Romney was atrocious, B: he and Huckabee were working together to lock Romney out and C: McCain has been sounding like he's channeling Huckabee lately when he fields questions in which his Christianity figures in the answer. Huckabee's only positive as far as I can tell is that he seems to be pro Second Amendment.
I've been saying all along that despite my reservatins about McCain, I'm voting against Hillay/Obama this November...but if the the ticket is McCain-Huckabee, I'm either sitting out or voting for Hillary.
