Unless the platters were physically destroyed, the data can be recovered.

It might cost a lot, and take a while, but it can be recovered. Just call the Feds, they know how.

Worth every penny they might have to pay.

Maybe not.

I keep a 32 pass, DoD certified wipe program on my tool kit CD. WHen I wipe a drive, it is wiped.

Doing a bare metal build is so much easier on a clean drive.
