Properly raised 8 year olds will sit still for hours while hunting if necessary - and enjoy the hunt. It is all a matter of learning to think outside yourself - of something other than yourself. In other words, not being a whiny, snot nosed, brat.
On the other hand I have gone hunting with many adult men who have never grown up. Those are short trips.
