, he followed up with a bomb, Charlie Wilson's War.
Charlie Wilson's War wasn't a bomb. Not an overwhelming success, but still quite profitable. It cost $75 million and grossed $113 million -- a tidy 150% return on investment.
. One hit in 8 years I consider a has-been.
One hit in 8 years? Huh? In the last eight years, in addition to Da Vinci Code, Hanks has made Catch Me if You Can ($350 mil), Polar Express ($300 mil), Terminal ($200 mil), Cast Away (total flop @ $429 mil), and Road to Perdition ($180 mil). The guy's not making very many movies, but it's not because he's bombed at the box office.
1 hit in 8 years? I may not like his politics, but that’s ridiculous.
This is just US grosses:
Cast Away: 233 million
Road to Perdition: 104 million
Catch Me If You Can: 164 million
Polar Express: 179 million
Da Vinci: 217 million
That’s a bulletproof recent track record.
