In special elections, a plurality is sufficient. There were three minor candidates who shared 4.5 percent of the vote.

LA is now back on closed primaries for Congress. No more jungle-style primaries for Congress but still for state and local offices.

Good on ya Mate!
My post is directed at folks who still donate to the RNC.
Didn’t mean to offend, I apologize if I did.

WE ALL NEED TO STOP DONATING MONEY TO THE REPUBLICAN PARTY!!

Save your dough, pick a local race and GO FOR IT.

Murtha’s seat is up for grabs, so it Sestak’s in PA.

I don’t live anywhere near Pennsylvania, but I would love to see those two POS’s FRY.

Food and fuel prices are killing Republicans too. But GWB is opposed by at least 69 percent of the public in the latest soundings.

Yes, another election in November, but in LA most incumbents are foolproof.

Murtha’s seat is up for grabs,

Every FReeper owes the Marines and the rest of the Armed Forces to donate to whoever is running against John Murtha. He would be a good start to cleaning house in D.C.

In general elections for Congress and Senate, does Louisiana still have a run-off if no candidate receives at least 50 percent of the vote?

The “jungle primary” format with two elections only now applies only for state and local offices, including governor.

The closed Repubican primary applies for Congress, with a closed runoff, and then a general election, with victory by plurality if there are three or more candidates who prevent an outright majority.

I think the Democrats have a primary open to independents. The Republicans do that in KY.
