Greetings to all the Freeper Canteeners out there. It's Friday so that means it must be time for the Flyby. I had problems last Saturday as the server that I use was down for a brief period of time. naturally it was right before I had to go to work, boo hiss, so my apologies for missing the Sortie last Saturday.
So tonight I wll put up the pics I had in mind for last Saturday to round out the ANZAC Day rememberance. So on with the pics.
First up a pic of, as far as I know the only flying Lockheed Hudson patrol bomber.
Now as most of you know ANZAC is short for the Australian New Zealand Army Corp. Well I figured I better rustle up some New Zealand aircraft to represent the Kiwis. So first up is a restored RNZAF F4U Corsair.
I have up next a Spitfire trainer restored in the colours of 485 Squadron. 485 Squadron served with the RAF in Europe IIRC.
Much like the Australians the New Zealanders flew about anything that would fly in the early days of 1942. Even the little Tiger Moth trainers were rigged to carry bombs if need be. The P-40 Kittyhawk was a mainstay of the RNZAF for the first two years of WW-II in the Pacific.
A little more modern pic and a bit of an unusual one. We have an RNZAF Sunderland, a US Navy P-5 Marlin and an RAAF P-2 Neptune flying over Corrigidor in 1963.
Well I have to call it a night so I will sign off with this nice picture of the Hudson.
I have to get going as 0430 will be here all to soon and I have to go to work in the am :-(
