"Of course, Spain could use some new cojones, too..."

It seems that in Spain only the bulls have cojones anymore..... certainly not the politicians.

These local government election results are certainly a wake-up call to Brown.

Cameron, who is a “moderate,” can win by default in this environment if a national election were called now.

But Brown will choose the time most favorable to him, if there is one to choose.

A British “conservative” is about like the average Democrat here...

How can a party gain 200 seats and not immediately grab control? They must have been really really down to start with???

It's a good start certainly, the London mayoral elections is the important one though for so many reasons and if Ken sinks this evening they'll be champagne bottles popping everywhere over here in Britain. I've got a few extra beers in the fridge just waiting.....

That's about right, but politically correct liberalism has infected conservative party's the world over including the US.

The only country's in the world I see not infected by this social disease are Italy and Israel. Silvio Berlusconi described illegal immigrants as an army of evil, I mean even the BNP over here wouldn't dare say that and they're a fringe party!!

One thing for sure is they aren’t conserving the indigenous population. To hell with the UK conservatives and Labour. Vote BNP.

These are municipal council seats. There are probably tens of thousands of them in the UK.

The UK’s Conservatives make Hillary look like Reagan, so unfortunately there won’t be too much of a change. Honestly, I don’t know how they can call themselves “Conservatives”. There are absolutely no similarities to Thatcher’s Conservatives.

Yep he’s finished and was many months ago.

Top put it all into perspective:

- the governing party always takes a drubbing at locals in non general election years. Labout has taken a hiding for three years in a row now, they did in 04 but won the election a year later

- The Tories have always dominated local government elections and have a huge lead nationally over everyone else

- The biggest and most important prize of the night was the Mayors election in London. You know Red Ken is popular when a Labour candidate is pushing a Tory to the wire even despite Labour being at 21 year low poll ratings nationally.

I’m pretty confident based on what I’ve heard that Boris has won, but perhaps too early to call it, and the counting begins later today.

- Finally as for the Tories as a whole - true they are not nearly conservative enough, and Cameron is a fraud, but trust me, there are a great many genuine social and fiscal conservatives in the Tory ranks, and in the shaddow cabinet who are pushing them back to the right.

Labour is in chaos and Brown is hopeless to stop it. Expect another Labour coup within a few months unless things pick up.

Maybe there is hope for Europe...

Not until they start having babies and going to church again. A little flag waving wouldn't hurt either.

It is reported that the results are similar to the Tory defeat in 1995, which preceded Blair's victory two years later.

The headline should read “Europe’s Audacity of Hope”. First the French, then the Italians, and now the British are showing signs of intelligence.

True. And they have been greatly empowered by this victory. These results were 30% local politics and 70% stop-taxing-us-to-death-you-cretinous-socialists.
