Italy posts income details on web

Italians are outraged after the government publishes every citizen's declared taxable income on the internet. The tax authority's website was inundated by people curious to know how much their neighbours, celebrities or sports stars were making.

The Italian treasury suspended the website after a formal complaint from the country's privacy watchdog.

The release of the information was one of the last acts of the outgoing centre-left government and has shocked many tax-shy Italians, says the BBC's Mark Duff in Milan.

So much to the concern of the leftists for privacy. Is this the treatment we can expect in the future from our indigenous leftist leaders?

“last acts of the outgoing centre-left government”

While our leftists would love to, they did take the “W”’s off keyboards.

Deputy Economic Minister Vincenzo Visco said, "This already exists all around the world, you just have to watch any American soap to see that."
Their government leaders look to American soaps to see what policy their government should implement?!? Wow!

While this socialist economic minister stated or suggested that other nations open their citizens tax returns to public view, I have never heard of any other nation doing so. He also suggested that the United States does this. I may be naive but I have never heard that all American taxpayer’s tax returns are displayed on the IRS website for all to view.

The Italians are so upset that the socialists maybe will not return to power for years and years. At least, I hope so.

If they can release the info on a government web site, you can be certain that they have complete copies that they will take with them when they leave government, and will use that info for untold nefarious activities, blackmail, theft, kidnappings for ransom, and the like. But then that's what leftists are all about, so no surprises there...

The leftist Des Moines Register publishes the names and salaries of all state employees every year.

The State of Missouri also releases the names of state employees and their salaries to the public. Perhaps the view is that the citizens are paying these people so they should know how much they are paid, but this is a far cry from releasing the tax returns of all taxpayers on a website for the public to view as the socialist government of Italy just did. There would little or nothing left to the any so-called right to privacy.

The Italian government took the website down, so I am afraid you will not be able to see income details on your Italian friend or enemies.

I could not care less, if anyone knows how much I make. My boss knows, numerous beancounters in my company know, finance people know, security people know, tax people know, lots of people know. It seems the only ones we really don’t want to know, are those people working next to us.

This idiot socialist economics minister excused this action on the basis that he sees that this is done in the United States as per his watching American TV soap operas. What kind of fools these socialists, mistaking the imaginary for the reality.

Thank you. I had a name on which I wanted to check.

Does anybody know the name “Morandi”?

They are in the area north of Milan.
