A Boulder salon owner ticketed in March for dyeing her poodle pink has made a deal with the city attorney's office that could dismiss the charge against her in six months if she doesn't commit a similar violation in that time.
Wednesday morning, Joy Douglas' famous formerly pink poodle, Cici, was seen outside the Zing Salon at 1100 Spruce St. -- and the pooch was white.
Douglas only commented to say her case has been dropped and she needs to have an attorney present before saying more.
Officials with the city's municipal court said the case isn't dropped yet, and if Douglas is accused of dyeing animals again before her next courtdate in October, she could be penalized on the original charge.
"It potentially could go back to trial," said assistant city attorney Janet Michels.
Officials with the Humane Society of Boulder Valley ticketed Douglas on March 1 for violating Section 6-1-14 of the city's code, titled "Dyeing fowl and rabbits prohibited." The ordinance reads, "No person shall dye or color live fowl, rabbits or any other animals or have in possession, display, sell or give away such dyed or colored animals."

I’ve always been curious about the notion that, when politicians pass a law, the cops get blamed for enforcing it while the politicians skate.
Really, officer...my dog just happened to roll in some strawberry Kool aid powder. I had to try to wash it off, didn’t I?
I wonder what Code Pink activists have to say about this?
Millions of women dye their their hair without ill effect, so why not dogs? I’m not saying the outcome is always pretty, but what is the harm? Can we conclude that the kooks in Boulder care less about women than they do dogs?
Yes
I think animals and plants are the new people in Boulder. People are declassified to organic masses. All in the name of Social Justice and Peace. Brought to you by The People’s Nanny State of Boulder.
