May 1, 2008 Former Presidential candidate and Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee will be attending a Meet and Greet for Greg Davis, candidate for Congress in Mississippis 1st Congressional District. Governor Huckabee is in town to endorse Greg Davis and to ensure that the residents of the district come out and support Davis bid for Congress.
With the special election runoff on May 13, Governor Huckabee will meet with Greg Davis and his supporters this Saturday, May 3rd at 9:45AM at Joe Joes Espresso & Café in Tupelo, MS.
Davis stated Im honored to welcome Governor Huckabee to Mississippi. He is a true conservative leader, one who shares the values of the voters of Mississippis First Congressional District. This election is about the difference between principled leadership and those who will say anything to get elected. I am honored to stand with leaders like Mike Huckabee on principles, not politics.
I think a substantial number of Bible-belt conservatives are bound and determine that Huck will survive and live on....maybe one of those Sunday talk show guys or maybe his own “Rush-like” show. I can’t see much in the guy and his speeches are fairly lame. He is probably reliving Iowa every night and its greatest day in his life.
Missippy ping!
This is the last asshat we need going and “helping” us. Huckster virtually eliminated the Republican party in AR.
Yeah, because before Huckabee the Republican Controlled both Houses in the Legislature, Both Senate Seats, and every Statewide office. Oh wait, before Huckabee, Democrats Controlled 90% of the Legislature, Both Senate Seats, and all Statewide offices and only 2 other Republicans had been elected since Reconstruction. Hard to say he “destroyed” what was barely there.
Um, we controlled HALF the Congressional delegation when he was in his first terms and 30% of the legislature. Now we have “1” House member (see below) (incidentally, the same seat we’ve held since 1966), eroded down to the low 20s in the legislature, and ZERO Republicans statewide. Zero. Not even Hawaii, Vermont and Rhode Island have zero statewide Republicans. You have to go to *omney’s Massachusetts to see that sort of colossal incompetence (or deliberate party-killing). Check your facts. He was one of our worst RINO Governors, bar none.

“only 2 other Republicans had been elected since Reconstruction”
Lemme see (since 1966)... Winthrop Rockefeller, Sr., Footsie Britt, J.P. Hammerschmidt, Ed Bethune, Frank White, Tim Hutchinson, Asa Hutchinson, Jay Dickey, John Boozman, Win Paul Rockefeller. At least 2 party switchers in office, Julia Jones, Tommy Robinson. Others such as Betty Dickey, Lavenski Smith and Leon Johnson. Well, that’s 15 statewide and federal right off the top of my head. Now we’re at 1. 1. Um, ‘kay.
Half the Congressional Delegation=2 Congressman, 1 more than you have now. Statewide, Huckabee was the third Republican elected Since Reconstruction. Win Rockefeller, Jr. was the 4th.
Just like Houston Nutt left the University of Arkansas and headed to Ole Miss?
Suddenly Greg Davis looks like a fool.
I wish the huckster would just go away.
No, half as in 2 House members and a Senator. All 4 House seats are winnable for us (and we’ve held 3 of the 4 in the past 2 decades). Huckster wasn’t interested. He killed the party there, and it may be until 2014 (at the earliest) before we win back a single statewide office, maybe not until 2018 or 2022. Add to that, this selfish, arrogant RINO jackass thinks himself above running for the available Senate seat that is up this year. No, can’t lower himself to keep our numbers in the Senate from potentially dropping to the low 40s. As it is, we have nobody running for it.
Like I said, he needs to stay the hell away from “helping” and allow folks like Haley Barbour who actually know how to grow a party (thanks to Haley, we now hold all but 1 statewide office) to work his magic. Huckster would only help to turn the seat over to the rodents, just like he has with everything else.
No, actually, Conservatives are split on Huck. I think there are many people that like him and probably the future are the young people who are backing him and working for him.
Well, your being a shill for him, I know you conveniently overlook the facts of his failed Governorship. You also ignored the article and my refutations of most of your incorrect points (”only 2 Republicans elected in AR”). Basically, he was incompetent and he was no Conservative.
I guess cutting welfare roles in half, promoting marriage, restricting abortion, making it harder to fire bad teachers, and getting some broadbased tax relief through all counts as “failure” in you’re book.
By the way, throughout his tenure, he faced a strongly Democratic legislature that could override any veto with a simple majority. That seems to be conveniently absent from your analysis.
The Republican Party of Arkansas was a mess pre-Huckabee (with the exception of the 3rd and 4th district.) and is a mess afterwards. He got some things done during his tenure, many of which I think are quite laudable.
By the way of Republicans voting on Super Tuesday more than 80% had a favorable opinion of Huckabee and Huckabee received a higher percentage of his home state vote than either McCain (47%) or Romney (51%). Let’s be clear. You’re filing a minority report here.
“making it harder to fire bad teachers”
Harder, huh ? Yup, that sounds about right. Anyway, somebody who raised more taxes than Clintoon, KEPT his corrupt crony rodent appointees, took orders from Tyson to keep the slave labor spigot open for their factories, berating Arkansans of conscience that to oppose illegals was “un-Christian”, and, yup, his colossal and singular failure to help the GOP grow its numbers (indeed, leaving it effectively D-E-A-D) is something that you consider to be a success.
More facts about his lousy record (something else for you to ignore):

OK, if he’s so highly popular, where are all those Republicans he helped elected in Arkansas ? Start with Governor. I’ll expect the same answer I got from the mind-numbed *omneybot zombies on the Precious one’s record in Massachusetts. Fact it, Hoss. These were two $hitty RINO Governors and the rodents laughed all the way to the ballot box.
