Unfortunately, I don't think we can drill our way to energy independence. It's going to have to be something else. I'm afraid ethanol will not do, either.

I'm hoping for a biodiesel transitionary period with a final goal of nuclear and hydrogen with coal to fill the gaps.

There is plenty of oil, natural gas, coal and nukes to allow us to be a net exporter.
