IMO, we should at least be striking every Iranian military asset within reach, and we should be continuing until the stand down.
Unfortunately, nothing will be done, because there is an election coming in November, and Bush isn’t going to do anything dramatic, so as to not upset the apple cart — because no one can predict if the apples will roll to the right or left.
The Iranians fully understand this, hence their protracted strategy to bleed us in the hopes of a Democrat win, leading to a Viet Nam style withdrawal.
