I wonder if what we really miss is not really Fred, but what we wanted fred to be.
Fred is Fred. We aren’t sheeple like the Obamatrons that follow an empty suit because it “sounds so good and makes me tingle inside.” They are finding out what happens when you invest so much in a Chance Gardner. Fred would’ve been the best president since at least Ronald Reagan, but it wasn’t meant to be. We can take solace in the fact that John and Fred are friends and perhaps he will listen to sage advice. Senator McCain is not our “dream candidate” but he is head-and-shoulders above Barack Hussein Muhammad Obama or Hillary Rodham Clinton on many things, most importantly, the war on terror. We can hope that he picks a somewhat conservative running mate and oppose him when he is wrong, as we did during amnesty.
That might be true of some candidates- and it might be true for some of Fred’s fans. I’ve followed Fred since the 70’s and have always believed he’d be an excellent president.
So I miss FRED.
I think that is actually a very good point and applies to many in our lives - especially those who end up disappointing us.
Not me. I miss FRED ~
his intelligence and humor and excellent writing ~
his reasoning and devotion to "first principles".
Our electorate is too immature to appreciate him.
