FWIW, I shoot on Tuesday nights at a local match here in the Raleigh area. We had a couple of Durham LEOs there last night. One is a regular, and a canine officer.

He and the other officer both felt there was no valid reason for him to treat the dog the way he did.

I got the impression that they would in fact like some private time alone with the officer in question.

Thats nice, if you or I had kicked the dog we would be lucky to reach the jail without being beaten. There we would be charged with assault on a police officer.

The other posters question is valid, why isn’t he being treated as a criminal? It should be assault on a police officer or at least felony animal abuse. Instead he gets fired to find a job in another department?

Understood. I appreciate your talent for understatement.

I’ve had my dogs trained by a guy who is certified to train police dogs, and I’m pretty sure he would a) validate that there is no training reason to do what we see in the video, and b) would likely kick the guys a$$ and then let loose the dogs of war on the cop.
