He appears to be attempting a career comeback. BRC has been accused of riding his daughter’s coattails. If that’s true it’s absolutely shameful.
I have no idea who Hannah Montana or Miley Cyrus are, but that is a very artistic photo.
But she wasn’t embarrassed when she took off her shirt and posed for the picture. She wasn’t embarrased when shown the images and in fact was quoted as saying that she liked them.
She knew the photos were for vanity fair, a magazine, so it shouldn’t have been a surprise to her that they were for publication and she most likely signed a contract saying such.
She was only embarrassed when the feedback from some of her fans wasn’t positive. She’s burning the candle at both ends, blushing demurely for her young fans and secretly batting her eyes and flashing her nakedness at her future older fans.
This was planned from beginning to end and Miley isn’t embarrased by it. What she should be embarrassed about it treating her fans like they are idiots and don’t know what is going on here. Knowing that she cannot stay 15 forever she has to move on to a more adult following.
I reserve most of my disgust with the photographer, vanity fair and her parents who knew exactly what was going on and approved of it. As a parent myself I can’t imagine it.
When I was 12 or 13, my favorite shows were Star Trek and Twilight Zone and whatever was on the History/Discovery/Animal Planet channels, and occasionally if anything of decent quality came on the Sci-fi channel (I definitely remember deciding SG-1 was a cool show when I discovered one of their female characters was an astrophysicist, which was my goal in life at the time, and I also stumbled across Firefly and the old Doctor Who).
Ping.
You are not missing ANYTHING.
For whatever it’s worth, I read something a few days ago that her father (remember Billy Ray Cyrus of Achey, Breaky Heart?) said he lets her make her own decisions because she makes good ones.
DUH! Guess Dad passed along his deficit of intelligence to the daughter. Gotta love DNA.
Bingo. Whenever I hear someone use the excuse that, “but I did it and I turned out alright...,” I want to S-C-R-E-A-M!
Hey, I did Heroin for 10 years and I’m okay now (oh, except for that nasty case of Herpes....) Yeah, I was a cokehead for 15 years but I’m okay now (well, except for the pins in my leg from the horrible auto accident I was in when I was coked out) and that 5 year prison stint for vehicular manslaughter....
AAARRGH. Nobody has common sense anymore!!!
Gee, I wonder if that was Annie's idea?
Hey, I didn't have any common sense and I turned out alright!
Please don't ask Mrs. ASA Vet her opinion about me turning out ok.
You lay this on a FIFTEEN YEAR OLD GIRL as if she should be judged as an adult. Have you EVER seen a 15 year old that didn’t have a lapse in judgment? Also, it has come out that Miley was left in the care of her grandmother and teacher while her parents left and her parents never saw the photos and would not have approved of them. It is apparent that the grandmother and teacher don’t have the same sense of appropriateness that her parents do.
Give the girl a break. She is a GOOD kid.
And taking the pics gave her a warmie?
You apparently have no young children who watch the Disney channel. Miley Cyrus is the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus (of Achy Breaky Heart fame from the early 90’s).
Pay no attention to the naysayers about the show. It is VERY safe for small children to watch. There are no suggestive clothing, or sexual situations, or bad language. She is also a pop-star whose stage name is Hannah Montana. The show has a lot of episodes about her and her two separate lives that she tries to keep secret from the public so she can live a normal life.
P.S. The girl is pretty, but not in the league of a Cheryl Tiegs or Elle McPherson.
Miley WAS her nickname given to her originally as Smiley, but shortened to Miley when the other small siblings couldn’t properly pronounce it. Recently she legally changed her name to Miley.
I've no female grandchildren. My Grandsons wouldn't be interested in Disney girl shows.
Hannah Montana is her stage name or the show’s name. As for this photo shoot, I don’t blame the kid, she is only 15 and even though I think a 15 yr old should know better, most don’t.
This falls on her parents, imo. It’s not an awful photo but not really appropriate for a 15 yr old. IMO.
Personally, I don’t think it was all that bad, but a pose like that suggests one thing and that’s not appropriate for a 15 yr old. Her parents should have not allowed this, imo. The photographer is supposedly an *artist* and all that.
My two youngest, and basically all of us, watch Hannah Montana and I took my youngest to the concert movie (which was decent). The show is clean, nothing suggestive. The concert movie was pretty good, at least I didn’t fall asleep.
IMO, her parents should have known better to allow this type of photo shoot.
You may be surprised, but pre teen boys also like Hannah Montana. I was surprised myself when a relative told me his son watched Hannah Montana.
No, probably not. At least until they are in their teens.
