ALBANY - The Rev. Jeremiah Wright would be happy to see Barack Obama's presidential campaign derailed because the pastor is fuming that his former congregant has "betrayed" their 20-year relationship,
The Post has learned. "After 20 years of loving Barack like he was a member of his own family, for Jeremiah to see Barack saying over and over that he didn't know about Jeremiah's views during those years, that he wasn't familiar with what Jeremiah had said, that he may have missed church on this day or that and didn't hear what Jeremiah said, this is seen by Jeremiah as nonsense and betrayal," said the source, who has deep roots in Wright's Chicago community and is familiar with his thinking on the matter.
"Jeremiah is trying to defend his congregation and the work of his ministry by saying what he is saying now," the source added.
"Jeremiah doesn't care if he derails Obama's candidacy or not . . . He knows what he's doing. Obviously, he's not a dumb man. He knows he's not helping."
The source spoke yesterday about Wright's motivation for thrusting himself back into the news, the day after the pastor appeared at the National Press Club on Monday and embarrassed Obama by accusing the United States of terrorism.
Wright has said the reason he has begun granting interviews and making public appearances now is that he wants to defend black churches.
But the source said the preacher's motivation is much more personal.

Of course it is. Even Obama knew that. But in his arrogance, Obama never thought about Wright turning on him. Hey Obama, you sleep with dogs, you wake up with fleas.
Wright would love to call Obama a liar, but he can't, because he would be rightly seen as having ended Obama's presidential campaign. Wright's street cred would disappear, as would his black audience. Right now Wright has plausible denial. It's just the Rev being the Rev. So that's the way he's going to play it from here on out.
Just keep talking rev-rind.
He's certainly been a gift, hasn't he?
From the portions of his 'sermons' that I've been subjected to, I haven't gotten the impression that the "Christian" aspect of what he does is used as anything more than a vehicle and as a cover for his political, anti-American and openly racist rantings. His heart does not appear to be full of Christian love and benevolence....on the contrary, it appears only to be filled with anti-American and anti-white hatred, and his position at the Church is used to shield him from cross-examination and to allow him an unfettered megaphone from which he can spew his fevered, bigoted bile to an adoring, unquestioning flock.
In my view, he does a profound disservice to all of the people in the world who want Christ and Christianity in their hearts and lives.
You know, I actually felt sorry for Obama yesterday, like I did for Bill Clinton the day Monica story broke. Then I remembered what Obama thought about me and what he was planning to do to me and my family and the country and I thought 'God works in mysterious ways'.
Indeed. An Obama Presidency would scar our Nation forever, and we can all be thankful for the Gift of "Reverend" Wright. Hopefully he will continue on his delusional rampage at least through the election season.
Such good stuff.
That would be too delicious, although at this point in time it might be difficult to pull off....even the media would be asking 'why didn't you mention this earlier?'.
What Obama doesnt understand is that Reverend Wright holds any chance he may have of ever being president in his hands.
Obama is a novice politician. Sure, he can deliver a rehearsed speech well, but that isnt the stuff of real politics. Politics is about remembering who your friends are, and where the bodies are buried. Obama never learned that lesson in politics, unlike the Clintons. Obama has played the dozens with a man who can destroy him. Hes given Reverend Wright every reason to now.
And hopefully "Reverend" Wright will employ every means at his disposal to exact whatever revenge he feels is due him. Here we have a clash not of Titans but of supreme arrogance, vanity, ego and bluster. In one corner we have a vile, vitriolic, anti-American, racist who is using his position at a Church to rant his fevered hysteria, and has done so quite effectively for decades. In the other corner, we have a green politician who has been thrust into a race for the highest office in the land entirely by white guilt and racial politics, and who dares to question and refute "Reverend" Wright, something that he's certainly not used to, something his gargantuan and un-Christian ego will not tolerate, and something that he cannot allow to happen as his very livelihood depends upon it. Especially from a parishioner......
He would certainly not be the first who has manipulated the Christian message to serve his own ends.....and he had done so quite effectively until Hussein-Obama brought that distorted and ultimately non-Christian message outside of the walls of this "Church", where folks other than hysterical racists, America-haters and bigots could hear it.
Obama threw his grandmother under the bus, why not the Reverand as well? While I don’t agree with anything the Reverand stands for, I understand his sense of betrayal. Obama is a seriously flawed individual.
BTTT !!!
