Congressional race very close in 6th District Voting is Saturday in Baton Rouge area Tuesday, April 29, 2008By Jan Moller BATON ROUGE -- The February retirement of Republican Congressman Richard Baker has set off a spirited election to fill his Baton Rouge-area seat, with Democrat Donald Cazayoux and Republican Woody Jenkins squaring off in a race that has attracted loads of national attention and money.
Heading into Saturday's general election, the 6th District race remains too close to call, and both parties are flooding area airwaves and mailboxes with advertising in an attempt to get their voters to the polls.

That’s right. Woody was leading in the exit polls the whole day right up to about 5 PM that evening. That’s when the Marc Morial operatives went into action. If my memory serves me correctly, Landrieu had gone out on stage to concede the election, and then she got word that she had “won”. The rest, as they say, is history.
He won the rest of the state outside Orleans Parish by 100,000 votes. It’s truly appalling that the GOP majority Senate at the time didn’t refuse to seat Landrieu on the face of fraudulent returns and hold hearings on Morial and his corrupt little dog and pony show. Their lack of courage to do the right thing is why we’re in the minority today.

I hear a lot of people saying they reluctantly support Jenkins, but aren’t real happy with the choice. His Amway connection is often cited as a reason. The Democrat opponent is telegenic and positioning himself as a “conservative democrat.” I’ve heard a few Republicans say they’re voting for the Democrat. Not many, but a few. It will be very close.
If you know anyone that lives in LA 6, make sure they will vote for Woody. Pelosi continues the power grab and another vote for her is bad news. Even conservative Dems vote lib dem positions half the time because of intimidation or payback to leadership.
Probaably. Out-of-touch country-club RINOs hate --literally hate -- people like Jenkins who actually have principles. They will do whatever tehy have to do to keep anyone like that from getting in office.
There’s a big RINO problem up there. I bet they want to dump Jenkins and get our SecState Jay Dardenne to run. Careful what they wish for, he may not go for it.
This race is not looking good. I’m surprised that Jenkins is having such a tough time.
