Well, even with help you don’t get that far if you are a complete dummy, you at least have to have enough smarts to play the game. Enough people saw potential to help him get very far very fast.
But you could be right, maybe he’s just basically a good actor with an expensive education.

After 25 yrs in the ad biz, one develops a nose for the "empty suit" (one meets so many of them...)

The term has been frequently applied to Obama, of course. But I sense it might be accurate.

David Axelrod, his handler, is probably a certified political genius, however.

Hmmmmmmmm. From Wikipedia...

In 2004, [Axelrod] worked for the presidential bid of John Edwards. During the campaign, he lost responsibility for making ads, but continued as the campaign's spokesman. Commenting on Edwards' failed 2004 presidential campaign, Axelrod has commented "I have a whole lot of respect for John, but at some point the candidate has to close the deal and — I can’t tell you why — that never happened with John."

The Curse of Axelrod...??? Or simply a taste for exceptionally superficial candidates?

Well, someone who is good at, or at least likes, to mold and shape and project an image (and if you are in the ad biz you know what I mean) is going to gravitate towards those that are suitable(lol no pun intended), the empty suit types. This actually ties with what I had been reading about Obama's campaign, is that it is like a great product launch. Everything was done right, great concept, excellent branding etc. But in the end, even detergent has to get the clothes clean or people will stop buying it.

I have seen no evidence of above average intelligence from Obama...

He recites pre-written speeches containing flowery verbiage — with no specifics...

Each and every time he’s been challenged to answer or think on his feet or give rational explanations or specific achievable goals — he has come across as a sock puppet.

He quickly resorts to the clever escape — sidetracking his “inquisitor”......with some inane distraction...

Obama isn’t nearly as bright as he and his puppet masters would have us believe -—— and more a Potemkin Village and liar than they wanted us to discover....

Hell - he’s afraid to debate a fat old white woman!
Probably because she kicked his ass the last time - and he doesn’t have the brains or spine to stand against her again.......until the script and moderators are “prepared”...

LIAR

Yes, he is a liar. A previous Hillary devotee denounced the Clintons as "particularly accomplished liars." But Obama has taken it to a new level. A liar with more than a dash of hubris. 20 years in the pews of the Rev Wright and he didn't get a wiff of what has been apparent at first blush by even Obama sycophants. They tried to carry his water and cover his lies. But he kept right on with his protrusion of chin and striking a pose as if to sniff the air of pungent white votes. He must have been yucking it up backstage until Rev Wright started .....it up for him. Now with the wind in his face and his request denied that voters believe the unbelievable, he forces himself to lie again....regarding his protege' assertion that Obama was just being a policician. That is a truthful statement. Lying when the truth fits better has always been a democrats long suit. Frankly, I think Obama has crapped in the punch bowl, and is swimming in a viscosity so thick with turd that he is about to drown. Come late August, Denver, Colorado, it will get interesting. There is still a block of voters who still don't see the problem. If Hildabeast is selected, they may seize the streets in the mile high city. I wonder if there is enough oxygen to support combustion way up there in the ether. I suppose we will find out.

A good insight.

Those who fancy themselves as "molders and shapers" in politics would indeed prefer a candidate that is "moldable" and "shapable".

That's a really good explanation for the Axelrod/Obama relationship.

But, as it happens, the master plan breaks down when Obam-o can't cope with the ring around the collar...

Yeah, expensive! Just listen to Michelle complain to ordinary white and black working folk about paying off those Ivy loans!

And then there are music lessons and camps and servants and crap!

Indeed. Life is tough.

Especially, when you're entitled...
