Speaking at a press conference today, Barack Obama finally tried to distance himself from his pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. It appears Wright's "performance," as Obama called it, at the National Press Club finally put him over the edge. If he had done this at the start of the controversy, it may have saved him from the serious damage that is being done to his campaign by Wright's reappearance on the political scene.
Yeah, there’s been so much winking and nodding going on among all concerned that I’m surprised they haven’t all been hauled in for “symptoms” of some kind or other.
Even the honorable training of a marine can be overcome by the sleeze of the left. Note our idiot senator (whose name shall not be mentioned) who’s an ex-Marine - but thrives on falsely accusing Marines. Note the reverend. Pure sleeze can often overcome honor and integrity. Politics is pure sleeze.
I agree with you. This is Osama’s political rope-a-dope.
He has knowledge but it only makes him dangerous in the long run because he does not have what many high school hard working grads have and that is COMMON SENSE.
This guy has been pampered and groomed by those who hate America for 20 years.
I wonder when Obama, Reverend Wright, Calypso Louie Farrakhan and Hot Head Shabazz party together, do they talk about the welfare of the country or how much they hate whitey?
Obama done played the dozens now.
“Not God Bless Jeremiah Wright!— God Damn Jeremiah Wright!”
Funniest comment of the day!
I learned more about Jeremiah Wright in 20 minutes to condemn the man...and it took a potential candidate for President...20 years????
Obama’s words that Rev Wright was his mentor and friend aren't going to go away. The seeds of doubt have been planted and there's no getting them back. Obama took his children to hear Rev Wright's racist hate. He's donated his money to spread that hate, the last time being just last year. Rev Wright married he and his wife and baptized his children.
Rev Wright is solidly around Obama’s neck and isn't going anywhere.
Just training for when he throws the whole country under the bus, or should I say under the Mushroom Clouds.
Just training for when he throws the whole country under the bus, or should I say under the Mushroom Clouds.
MEDIA RESPONSE: This is very hard for him...what courage. This was his friend and mentor...and Wright betrayed him. It takes leadership to stand up for your principles and say out loud...I do not agree with those statements.
MY RESPONSE: Too late...had your chance and you refused to distance yourself from your mentor...the “former” pastor.
why are you talking sense???
No...no. You’re too conspiratorial here. It’s simpler than that. Wright was his mentor. He’s not going to let Obama gradually distance himself like that—throwing him under the bus an inch at a time hoping no one will notice.
You think Wright’s ego can handle that? His entire pastoral life tapped just to get some young kid elected to
the presidency who, afterward, won’t give credit publicly or privately to the man?
Maybe some people would be willing to see the big picture and make such a sacrifice, but not this guy.
What does Wright gain by being tossed aside in order to get Obama into the White House? Nothing...not now. Maybe later, years later, but he’s myopic and wants his fame and praise now. Wright isn’t willing to wait for God to give him his props.
This is a case of Obama going from adoring the man to 1) having his handlers talk to him 2) not wanting him to do things and to keep quiet. Baiscally, disrespecting Wright’s legacy. That’s what Obama’s doing. And Obama must do that because Wright only represents 15% of the population. Obama must (and has, I believe) rise above it, and I think he’s really trying to do that.
Wright ain’t gonna take it.
No matter what, this was not his strategy trust me. He is watching his entire world vanish before his eyes. I know he’s in a fog right now. I have ZERO support to lend to Obama and I’d vote for Mccain and Hillary first—always would have—but I cringed listening to his press conference today. I felt heaps for the man. Regardless of what happens, he is in a fight for his life with his father.
No matter how great you are, you are always your father’s son. He will always pwn you.
Wright is, in all ways but genes, his father.
Obama’s father has come forth to put this boy in place as only he can, and he’s doing it.
It’s terrible.
The correct expression is: Quick like a bunny
But you see the Reverend Wright just says what white liberal elites believe.
Hillary doesn’t have any disagreement with Reverend Wright either.
BHO will win the nomination.
Ya, sure. Words. Meaningless unfelt words.
IOW,
BULLPOOP.
If we are to believe Obama today, then all of his previous statements concerning Rev. Wright are lies; it would also call into question his only asset in this campaign: his so-called "judgement". How is it that regular Americans can discern the hatred of Wright in 20 seconds, while it takes Obama 20 years? What else is he not telling us?
If today's presser was a lie to "protect his political viability", then Rev. Wright's statements to the NPC concerning politicians and pastors were spot on and Senator Obama is merely a glib opportunist.
In my estimation, you will see a flood of superdelegates to Hillary over the next week - remember, the Ayers issue has only barely surfaced; Obama still needs to explain his work with the Joyce and Woods Foundations, as well as as chairman of a board appointed by Bill Ayers.
Obama has a paper-thin resume; each of these issues call into question his judgement, his character, and his honesty.
IMHO, Howard Dean will look like a Christian Scientist with appendicitis (h/t to Tom Lehrer) on tonight's broadcasts.
