But I am not a fan of BMWs efforts over the past few years, see I have a thing for classic BMWs from the company's prime...
Seems like 1 of every 2 BMWs I see on the highway is blowing smoke out the tail pipe.
I know of a few catastrophic engine failures in BMWs, but those were more due to owner neglect than to design. I rarely see a smoky BMW - but the ones I do notice are typically *old*, which speaks well for the brand's reliability (overall).
The majority of newer cars that I see blowing blue oil smoke are Mitsubishis.
Looks like a ‘WOW’ car to me! /BMW = the best driving experience;^)/
Ditto to everyone on the rims, they look like early eighties Lamborghini wheels. Also, the back window louvers don’t look right. Other than that, sweet.
If you don't want to spend that kind of money and still want one, do what I did.
I've owned 7 BMW's (+ 3 of their motorbikes) over the years and not one has left me by the side of the road. Or blown smoke...
Problems, yes - occasionally (particularly with my independent mechanic). But the two times I had major engine problems, BMW fixed them( including once replacing the entire short block) on warranty even though I was over the mileage limit of the warranty in both cases.
In that case, I had bought the car used with 47K on it and had almost 60K on it when the problem showed up with the rings. It's a retty impressive company that stands behind their porducts to that extent.
I now have an '04 X5 (no problems, runs fine, don't drive it much so its not a good example) and a BMW built '03 Mini CooperS. It is a solid, totally reliable little hot rod.
You must have bad gas in your area....lol!
Liar Liar...Pants on Fire
BMW = Bubba Makes Wheels?.
This writer either lacks imagination or has been co-opted by the "green revoloution"
BMW is a Performance car company - I'll bet the car has somethinng closer to their 720 HP F1 V8 engine under the hood.
Probably not their 925 HP V10 - a bit too tall for that hood line.
On the other hand, it may have a Toyota Prius power plant.... but it's unlikely.
BMW is really good in their niche, which is sophpisticated sedans that drive well. As a sports car company they seem to miss a lot more than hit.
The ultimate BMW will always be a big car with lots of leather. More a GT than a sports car if it’s a two seater, or probably just the full 7 series.
LOTUS....Lots of Trouble, Ususally Serious
Looks like a cockroach.
I once owned a 1985 M6 - a gray market car before they detuned it for US gasoline. A true 163 mph car off the showroom floor.
The M6 won the cross-Mexico race in the mid-eighties a couple of times...against factory Porsches. They held together better over the primitive Mexican roads.
The M6 was a GT...but a visceral GT - snarly, asswiggleing, tire-screeching visceral. Fun car. Kick myself for selling it every time I think of it.
