Here’s the way I (and I think many of us) see this. When Obama started running, then started winning- I never thought of him as a black candidate. I thought of him as a socialist and a very dangerous guy- because of his inexperience, his leftist beliefs and views.
Until Jeremiah Wright- Obama’s color was NOT an issue.
NOW- Obama has become the semi-tragic bearer of racist victimhood (as opposed to actual victims of real racism) and race has been front and center. This is infuriating to me as a conservative since now people are focusing on him as “the first serious BLACK candidate for president”....INSTEAD of his frightening politics. ...
Television anchorman Rick Sanchez was driving drunk on the mid-December night his car struck and critically injured a man who darted into a road outside Joe Robbie Stadium, blood test results show. Sanchez had a blood alcohol level of 0.15 percent. In Florida, a driver with a blood alcohol level of 0.10 is considered intoxicated. “I’m totally, totally taken by surprise by this,” Sanchez, an anchorman for WSVN-Channel 7, said late Monday.

The man Sanchez hit was critically injured and remains in a coma at North Shore Hospital.
Ms. Hoague said Friday that she thinks Sanchez was driving drunk at the time of the accident, but prosecutors decided not to charge him with causing bodily injury while driving drunk, a third-degree felony.
“The victim came out of nowhere and walked right into his pathway,” she said. “Sanchez was not speeding and would not have been able to avoid the accident.”
After the accident, Sanchez, 32, drove home to retrieve his driver’s license and insurance card.

No the 2 reporters at the site and the host are acting as PR flacks not journalist. Their performance as journalist (at least what journalist claim) was an embarrassment. Soladad was most impressed by his performance and had little to say about the actual words Wright said.

Thanks to CNN for re-airing the entire Jeremiah Wright speech for those of us who missed it, complete with unabashedly pro-Wright commentary from the flamboyantly dressed Roland Martin and Soledad O’Brien. But here’s a question: Is there any imaginable set of circumstances in which all this exposure of Rev. Wright — giving us that much-discussed “context” we’ve often heard about — is a good thing for Barack Obama?

CNN — The “Yes We Can” Network? [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
I haven’t been watching closely, but CNN seems to want to stake it’s place tonight as the anti-Sean Hannity on Obama. They haven’t mentioned him by name (the name “O’Reilly” got a Wright mention) Hannity (how dare he!) raises questions, plays not-made-for-prime-time-TV sermons — all fair and even balanced: Sean has interviewed Jeremiah Wright. CNN responds with here’s-his-public-speech, here is a CNN anchor and analyst who will tell you how to understand the funny, not-angry Wright and stop demonizing him (Sean Hannity, that means you!) and explain the context of “God damn America.” They’re on their second airing of the speech now. Sean Hannity reports, CNN decides for you?

Excellent point SE Mom. That is exactly the way that the hundreds of “independent” people I talk to who don’t pay attention to politics see it. Nobody gives a flying +)%# if the guy is black, green, orange, blue or purple with pink poke a dots.
My black friends and associates would say things like America is not ready for a black President. Nonsense. He won Iowa with a 2% African American population.
I would love to vote for a black man as President. I would love to vote for a woman as President. We need more estrogen and less testosterone.
Just not these two phonies.
