I think Dowd's article is funny. She is revealing the plight of the Democrats. They really don't have a candidate that they like a lot, that inspires confidence, and that they can get behind with enthusiasm - unless they are doing so just based on race or gender. Otherwise, there is nothing there that either of them brings for the good.

Meantime, Hillary and Bill are so desperate to prove that they are not racist, have never been, and have always been in the corner for the blacks that I wouldn't be surprised if they would go black-face ala Al Jolsen and start singing "Swanee" in the last days of this campaign. (might be the only way left that Hillary can win, come to think of it!) Of course, all the while having their machine dig up more dirt on Obama and processing it to "sources" for distribution.

And...at this late date, Obama is trying very hard to find a way to identify with the common white, middle-class working man. Maybe he should ask Michael Jackson the name of his doctor who lightened his skin, to bring out his (Obama's)natural "whiteness," you know, the other 50% of his heritage that his pastor hates.

They should be -- they've played the race card on Obama repeatedly, even doggedly, ever since before South Carolina, all the while insisting with typical Clintonesque brazenness that they are doing nothing of the sort, and that contrariwise it's Obama that is playing that card on them. [Clinton Lie Meter lurches into red, pegs out, falls over and breaks, bursts into flames.]

Of course, the black voters are voting as racistly (w?) as any Klan convention, and nobody this side of Neptune is calling them on it -- well, I did hear one AM talk-radio voice bring up Obama's hypermajorities in the black precincts, but that was about it. Everyone else in media is giving those turkeys a pass, like we owe them or something.
