McCain is obviously trying to pick up the black vote for the GOP, hopefully for the long term. Not sure I agree with him, but that is what it looks like to me.

And what makes you think he’s trying to pick up the black vote? Because he denounced a perfectly legit ad calling into question the two gubernatorial candidates in NC’s judgment? I just don’t see it.

He dislikes conservatives. NC GOP, to him, are a bunch of southern, red neck, racists. He’s not a conservative and he doesn’t like them. Period.

Don't give McCain that much credit. He's a foolish ass.

Senator McCain. Please explain to everyone why the ad is racist.

I can understand trying to “court the black vote,” but let’s say it goes from 93% Democrat down to 88% Democrat, will htat offset the conservatives he turns off?

McCain is a socialist defending fellow socialist Obama.

The same tactics hasn't worked for the liberal white Memphis Congressman. He even begged to join the Black Caucus.

Well, if McCain or anyone seriously thinks this is the year Republicans will pick up more black votes, then he needs to put in a straight jacket and taken to the nearest institution.

We’ll see the largest black vote ever, with 90%+ going to Obama (barring some very unlikely switch to Hillary).

I live in NC. I am active socially, politically and philanthropically in my community. I do not know a single black person who is voting for McCain.
I am calling the Republicans in my precinct to remind them to vote, but quite a few of them have switched parties.
Part of the reason is that Richard Moore is a hometown boy and the residents want him to win governor's race. “He has a plan and he can pay for it” Problem is he hasn't said how.

He’s not after the black vote, though it would be nice. Obama has it wrapped up. He is after the people who may be sympathetic to Blacks but just can’t quite handle Obama. He is making himself acceptable as a second choice.

Listening to McCain promote the aims of McCain-Feingold, he seemed primarily interested in eliminating what he called "negative advertising". Seemingly, he was offended when somebody said something bad about a Washington politician.

I wouldn't be surprised if his reaction to the Obama ad doesn't stem from this. In his mind, so long as Republicans don't say anything bad about the Democrats, then the Democrats won't say anything bad about him.

You and I both know this is utterly unrealistic. But, all too often, McCain and realism seem to be strangers.

Note that this ethic didn't keep McCain from lying repeatedly about Romney's stance on Iraq. But, then, Romney isn't of Washington...
