This should have been titled “How To Stop The Emerging Democrat Presidential Victory,” as there’s no mention of the down-ballot races, which look pretty bleak right now.
The way to stop an emerging Democrat majority is to CHALLENGE THEM.
Republicans must make the fact that the economy was great up until the Democrats took over Congress central to their campaign. Then, all of the new Republican candidates for congress (and there will be many, because Democrats hold more seats and so many deadbeat Republicans are retiring) should get together under the banner of a new sort of CONTRACT WITH AMERICA, lead by John McCain. This new contract will be simple: promise to INTRODUCE NO EARMARKS, and pledge to VOTE AGAINST ALL PORK BARREL SPENDING.
Together McCain and the new Republican candidates can reinforce each other. They can make it the theme for 2008. This will bring conservatives who abandoned the GOP in 2006 back to the party.
Finally, Republicans must embrace a “COMMON SENSE CONSERVATION” platform as an alternative to radical environmentalism. Most people want to be good shepherds to the environment, at least in their own backyards, and the GOP doesn’t offer them anything, so they have no choice to side with the Democrats, even though they may not agree with Democrats on the solutions or the extent of the problem. They see it as at least offering something, compared the the GOP’s nothing.
The “COMMON SENSE CONSERVATION” platform would emphasize innovation and new technology, made in America, that will cut pollution and conserve energy. This addresses people’s primary environmental concerns in a conservative way, without endorsing the theory of Man Made Global Warming.
Are these counties really very similar? I thought you had to go to California to find a place like Montgomery County Maryland.
Pass the popcorn.....this has been so much fun to watch.
I hope that it isn’t a sin to be gleeful about all of this.
Many thanks to 2ndDivisionVet for posting so many election topics, and of course to all others who posted these:
