25 mothers taken from FLDS ranch now believed to be minors

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Twenty-five mothers staying at a shelter for children taken from a polygamists' compound are now believed to be minors.

Child Protective Services spokesman Darrell Azar says the girls initially claimed to be adults but are now believed to be under 18. The girls are in state custody.

The discovery takes the number of children taken from the ranch controlled by the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to 462. The number has been climbing since the state swept all the children off the ranch nearly three weeks ago.

Of the children taken into custody, roughly 260 remain at the San Angelo Coliseum. The others were bused to foster facilities around the state.ate.

Mothers that are “minors” is something new? Sheesh, have they ever looked at teen pregnancy rate across the country—there are 100s of thousands of minor mothers some of which don’t have a clue as to the father.

And somehow, I don't think that these girls' mock wedding days' were timed, either, to coincide with some magical 16th birthday,

Hmm. I bet Warren Jeffs' lawyer is working on the "spiritual birthday" defense as we speak.

****have they ever looked...****

Looked for what?

Texas authorities responded to a complaint that young girls were being brainwashed into sexual slavery under the guise of religion - bearing female children for a new crop of sex toys and having baby boys aborted or banished to hell.

Pregnant teens in non-FDLS environs cause multiple problems and yes - teen pregnancy is a social disgrace - but what purpose does it serve to even compare the two? One does not absolve the other. Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeez

Why not try to find out what the topic is, maybe google FLDS, this isn’t a generic discussion about national statistics, this is about a raid on a cult that is known to rape female children in what are called “marriage” ceremonies.

It is what their leader was just sentenced for in Utah five months ago and it is the charges that he is being tried for in Arizona this week. There are other members that are scheduled for or are involved in trials on this child rape practice right now.

This is not about the failings of individuals across the nation, this is about a cult of perverts that have gathered together and are breeding children for use in their sick cult in an institutionalized, farm like manner.

You are completely incapable of understanding the term “statutory rape”.

These girls were bred to be sex slaves and were raped by perverted old men.

I am quite sure when such a thing is found in other areas of the country it is proscuted with great enthusiasm.

You apparently approve of this sex slave system, since you want to just throw up your hands and let these girls continue to be abused, because other MIGHT be somewhere else.

Nice try. This is about more than JUST this cult. It is also about the Law in the country and respect for the Law by the people. It seem to me that we are expected to ignore teen and preteen pregnancy until the the gov’t decides not to, and then we are to be shocked, shocked to the degree that we excuse any heavey-handedness or over-reaching by authorities. Much is made of the old perverts in this cult but not once have I seen a refrence to the fact that a huge number of the underage pregnancies in the country are the result of twentysomthings and older rapeing kids. You can do a serch on this very website, we’ve discussed it as recently as 4 or 5 months ago.

Texas has a compelling interest in looking into the sorts of crimes alleged to this cult but I truly hope they haven’t screwed the pooch in dealing with this mass child removal. There is a hell of a lot of pure, white hot rage in a lot of people with respect to this cult and such a reaction is NEVER a good thing (even if it is understandable).

Thanks for the ping.

Wonder what the final total will be. *sigh* again, this is so sad but I'm glad that (hopefully) the abuse will stop for these children!

“Of the 460+ FDLS ‘children’ there are only 37 boys.”

OMG! I hadn’t heard that before. There’s something else going on there, huh? Breeding female breeders, and probably selecting the “best” of the boy-children to carry on the religion. That ratio is terrifying; what has happened to the rest of the baby boys?

Adult mothers of the Twenty-five minor mothers are complicit in the grooming of the girls for criminal “spiritual marriage” rape. The men must be brought to justice but the adult mothers may be victims through a Stockholm syndrome effect.

Actually, their leader was sentenced as an accomplice to rape because he arranged the marriage of a 19 year old boy to a 14 year old girl. I'm certainly not defending the guy, but you should at least get the facts right.

Court TV coverage with more details about the case.

oops, more facts....the girl didn’t want to get married so in essence, it would have been promoting rape.

What I don’t understand is how they would of been able to get welfare benefits without ID’s.

I have been hot about these guys for decades and now that the convictions are starting to roll in I am happy, I assume that more trials will result from the raid on this most elite branch of the cult.

Their most holy leader may already be doomed to life in prison, but I hope that his current trial in Arizona will only add to his sentences to date, I hope that Steed’s trial goes badly for him, I hope that the investigation on the Canadian branch will eventually lead to a raid. I hope that Barrow’s is found to have broke his probation that he received after serving time for these cult rapes. I’m glad that Kelly Fischer was convicted of rape.

Do you really have any questions about why the men are so cagey or gone, or why they will not give up DNA to get their kids back? Do you think that they are just a bunch of good old boy patriots that are giving up their kids because they think that the DNA test is unconstitutional?

I am happy, other people’s unhappiness with these people being busted doesn’t bother me

I know nothing about this cult but I suspect that its practices and rituals are designed to serve someone other than God. That being said, the attitude expressed in the abvove quote is one that can turn around and bite us all on the ass someday real soon.
