25 mothers taken from FLDS ranch now believed to be minors

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Twenty-five mothers staying at a shelter for children taken from a polygamists' compound are now believed to be minors.

Child Protective Services spokesman Darrell Azar says the girls initially claimed to be adults but are now believed to be under 18. The girls are in state custody.

The discovery takes the number of children taken from the ranch controlled by the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to 462. The number has been climbing since the state swept all the children off the ranch nearly three weeks ago.

Of the children taken into custody, roughly 260 remain at the San Angelo Coliseum. The others were bused to foster facilities around the state.ate.

No need for the personal attacks.

Soon-to-be-moms at East High School ask for four weeks of maternity leave. Pregnant students in a Denver high school are asking for at least four weeks of maternity leave so they can heal, bond with their newborns and not be penalized with unexcused absences. The request is unusual in Colorado’s public schools, where districts tend to deal with pregnant students or new moms with specialized programs or individualized education plans. Denver Public Schools has no districtwide policy, leaving it up to schools to work out plans for students to continue their education.

PROVE IT. Prove that authorities are not prosecuting statutory rape cases. I did a news search and found a bunch of trial updates just from this week, and I am sure that most of them get no publicity unless they are unusual in some way.

Want to prosecute a rape case?

It's a civil child endangerment case. The DNA tests will show whether or not these teens and women are really the mothers of the children. If not, the children may have been imported from other FLDS locations, as it was posted that they were, with a quote from Jeffs, if I remember correctly. So they may already have been taken from their real moms, sent across state lines to be raised and groomed for the cult.

Underage pregnant or newly delivered moms, of which there are reportedly a couple dozen, could lead to criminal charges.

Now, if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me. *rolleyes*

Do you know how many of those cases were investigated? No, you don’t.

Do you know how many statutory rape cases are being prosecuted? No, you don’t.

And you think that child rape is acceptable.

“if these folks want to make that choice then let it be”

Sorry, PM, I was posting about the cult cases, not other statewide statutory cases, and didn’t mean to step on your post. Now no doubt someone will get our posts confused. Sorry.

Only that you have to add 25 underage mothers to the total. Their status was changed to being in custody yesterday.

Because in your posts on this thread you seem to be uniformly opposed to separating children and mothers under any circumstances.

you still have not explained the 3 children in the Carolyn Jessop/Young picture. If that is Carolyn Jessop then why does she look 17 in the picture with her 3 children? Surely she is not 20 yrs old in that picture.

I don't speak for Carolyn Jessop. However, she has a book out and has done many interviews. She states that she was married at age 18, and had 3 children by the time she was 22. That is her testimony.

This child at 3 yrs old is already terrified on outsiders (non-FLDS) due to the FLDS cult brainwashing.

This child was removed without her mother, at age 3 and placed in a cavernous civic center on a cot and you think the reason she is terrified is because she was brainwashed?

Never mind, don't answer that.

to teach a child to give a false name to law enforcement?

Some of these children were born with one name and then taken from their fathers or even their mothers and re-assigned to families living at the YFZ ranch.

They gave different names because of that.

Well then, make it your mission to do something about it....

This thread however, isn’t the place, you’re trying to steer folks away from the discussion.

Don’t be ridiculous. No poster on this site thinks child rape is acceptable.

You stated that these girls were “married” and that makes this all fine.

They weren’t married. You are approving of rape.

I’m fine with it.

Just shows what caliber your “evidence” is.

Some sites are not welcome here...I don't know if any of the FLDS related ones, especially the ones that are controlled by the cult as this one is, are on the list or not.

I, for one, object to the posting of their propaganda which is neither news nor verifiable, and is geared toward eliciting more sympathy.

Oh, I see.

As long as you are enabling, explain why the men of the compound lied to a Texas Ranger and said there was nobody with the name “Sarah” on the compound. Just another mix up in names?
