While I think Jimmy Carter is a scumwaffle, he is not to blame for this mission failure. He did send it in, but his failure to treat Iran as a necessary evil that needed to be destroyed and his lack of foresight in the threat from Iran...well, that is why I blame Jimmy Carter for 9/11, it emboldened the terrorists from way back in 1979.
Plus, it was the Iranian founded Hizbollah that killed the Marines in Beirut in 1983, too.

That's correct....and Regan caught the blame. But little known was Regan's response to the Beirut attack. He sent the Navy to sink the Iranian navy.
