The van driver who struck a school bus and killed four children was charged Wednesday with four counts of criminal vehicular homicide.

Olga Marina Franco del Cid, 24, was indicted by a grand jury on a total of six federal counts. In April, she was charged with two counts of identify theft, two counts of false representation and two counts of using a false document for employment.

On Feb. 19, four students were killed when Franco del Cid hit their school bus on

Minnesota Highway 23 near Cottonwood in Lyon County.

According to a United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Franco del Cid identified herself to authorities as Alianiss Nunez-Morales and provided a birth date and Social Security number.

In an attempt to verify Nunez-Morales’s identity, investigators discovered that the Social

Security number was issued in Puerto Rico, and learned that Minnesota Department of Motor Vehicle records indicated Nunez-Morales did not have a Minnesota driver’s license.

ICE investigators located the real Nunez-Morales, who resides in Connecticut. She told authorities her purse had been stolen more than six months ago while she was living in Puerto Rico.

Agents executed a search warrant in February at Franco del Cid’s home in Minneota and recovered a Guatemalan birth certificate and certified Guatemalan identification card.

Franco del Cid’s alleged boyfriend – 29-year-old Francisco Sangabriel-Mendoza – was also indicted on two counts of aggravated identity theft, two counts of false representation and two counts of use of false document for employment eligibility. Sangabriel-Mendoza was the registered owner of the van involved in the crash.

A warrant has been issued for Sangabriel-Mendoza’s arrest. If you have any information regarding his whereabouts, contact ICE at 1-866-347-2423.

10 counts. That ought to hold her for a couple of years, anyway......

Yep, that oughta hold her, alright.

In the words of those great 20th century philosophers and cultural observers, Sonny and Cher, “and the beat goes on ... and the beat goes on.”

If this had happened in Minneapolis or St. Paul, we would never know if she was legal or not. Sanctuary cities, and all.....

Well, actually, a bit of exaggeration on my part, but not far from the truth. Petty criminals and many felons are never outed in the Twin Cities if they are illegal. This one might have been different, but I wouldn’t bet on it...

Thank goodness my county Sheriff doesn’t think like the mayors in the TC’s.....

It almost seems like Minnesota advertises for heartbreak cases to come on up to the Northstar...

Expect a lawsuit on behalf of the Chicago/St. Louis crowd to have their rights to welfare protected against the out of country applicants....

If she got a Twin Cities jury, she wouldn’t be convicted .. there’d be enough bleeding hearts to free her.

Had this happened in the Twin Cities, her bail would have been $200 and she would already be back in Guatamala, planning her return.....
