Can anyone track down a pic of the style in question?

Everyone in the communities wears long white underwear year-round (including toddlers) modeled after Joseph Smith's original temple garments. Ahhh. Temple garments!

Jeffs, of course, made an exception for himself. Of course. Always the same; do as I command you, not as I do.

Excellent post.
Given Jeffs’ attitude of “Do as I say, not as I do”, he could probably fit in very well as a Democrat.

The more we learn about these poligamist cults, the more they start to look like Islamic fascism lite.

I see difference between burkas and the granny klampet dresses these women are forced to wear.

The other day (a pretty warm day), a woman was outside doing gardening or yard work at a house up the street from me, and she was wearing an ankle-length jean skirt, and under than I could see she had on nylon sweatpants. I thought, who in the heck wears pants under a long skirt?
There are some of those pilgrim-looking fundamentalists here (upstate SC), I’ve seen them at Walmart, although they aren’t Mormons I don’t think. They all keep their heads covered with bonnets or those triangle scarves with the string ties.

Small difference. Most Islamic women don’t wear burkhas, anyway.

On the east coast those are mostly Mennonites and some Pentecostal Holiness women.

Its exactly the same. Its all about control. Usually men wanting to control their women.

Interesting. 'Course all of the anthropological observations of the eggheads and others cited above, apply to the outside world as well, don't they?
"You can modify people's behavior just by putting them in a certain kind of dress," says Carolyn Jessop
Oh, can ya? Like dressing your teenage daughters like street hookers, and sons like ghetto hoodlums, for example?
All women there dressed the same? Imagine standing on a suburban trian platform as I do every day, seeing a few men, a dozen women waiting for their commute train, all of the women dressed in black, head to toe, like some Sicilian widows! What kinda cult is that?
